You're point would hold more weight if it was correct. If you can't appreciate 30 Rock at it's most batshit insane, as it is now, I'm not sure how you got into it in the first place.

I think it makes the character more interesting. He's quite obviously a dangerous and not quite right in the head guy, but there's also some humanity and depth below that.

I've not seen the film (yet) but the book is seriously my favourite of all time. Well worth a read.
