Memory Lane is one of my personal favorite vocal performances ever. There's nothing quite like it. I know The AV Club is not the type to take kindly to Mariah Carey, but at least I can say a childhood obsession with her resulted in my mother buying me Minnie albums to go along with them.

This was one of the craziest hours of television ever just because of the crazy way the script was structured. No Jude for 30 minutes and then 10 straight minutes of camp craziness and flourishes of art film. And then a mutant appeared at the end.

Well, it's a good album, so who really cares? Part of it is that R&B is having a moment in indie right now, but I've been interested in her career ever since her last album. Besides, Solange was sampling Boards of Canada back in 2008 and covering Dirty Projecters the year after, so it's definitely not out of nowhere.

I wish there were more "dark skinned" sex symbols, but I always hate how people use this observation against Beyonce as if she's done something wrong or inauthentic to her race by having the features she has.
