Well, you know, I heard the jury's still out on… science.

I'm wondering if there's a way to make it totally vegan. I don't really care, since I'm not actually even a vegetarian, but it'd be a nice challenge. I don't think vegetable shortening melts in the same way at low-ish temperatures, but maybe, like, coconut oil?

@LurkyMcLurkerson:disqus I mean, I've never made it myself, so I'm not sure what all is in there. The veggies sound about right, but I'll have to check with my aunt or grandmother to get a more "traditional" recipe.

The problem is, when you make homemade bean burgers, they tend to one of two extremes: Either squishy, unappealingly turdlike, and prone to falling out the back, or over-dry and…

@Patrick_Batman:disqus I was going through one of my intermittent vegetarian phases at the time. The general consensus was that it was fine, but not really worth the effort.

Wait, people not from rural Georgia know about Brunswick stew?? (Okay, I'm technically not from rural Georgia, but my dad is, so…)

My family deep-fried the turkey last year. It was an… interesting experience.
