I was quite surprised to find the Intendant more sexy when she was dressed as Kira, especially at first, before she started laying it on thick. When I first saw her in red I thought "man Kira is standing in a sexy way, and what's that ring thing she's carrying?"

Excellent. And Jeffrey Combs first character sends unsolicited naked holovids of himself to everyone.

He's actually a wee fellow.

Well, there were the Cardassians, until the rest of the galaxy got involved.

I'm hearing Phil Hartman's voice saying: "You're wrong! They were never popular."

I think they missed a big opportunity by not setting this episode earlier in the season, so that it would have been a chess game of the Intendant vs. Weyoun with Kira caught in the middle.

@JuliusKassendorf:disqus : Since we're being nitpicky, she's never in the space shuttle.

@avclub-717729ce391c20ef3e722c3e6ef79a58:disqus : Basically it's that both sides expect to win the conventional war, so they don't plan to use them. Once the Russians start to lose, their leadership plan to threaten to use tactical nukes (with a foolish confidence that it'll never come to that) and this horrifies

The story was awesome.

I thought that Paris / Torres on Voyager was probably the best "evolved on the show" Trek relationship. Not without its hard-to-swallow parts, but I think it clears that incredibly low bar.

Maybe Ferenginar & Q'onos have shorter years than Earth does?

Dax & Lenara is too high a bar. More meaningful to say that she had better chemistry with the guy from the HORRIBLE Brigadoon episode. And still true.

Yeah it seemed like they had a bunch of dream / alternate reality / de-evolved state romantic scenes but very little in normal reality.

I was just thinking there are today many cases where writers (or musicians, or filmmakers) not only don't get paid for inclusion but have to pay just to be considered.

Shelby isn't the dancer; she's the Captain (last seen as a Commander in Best Of Both Worlds) who loaned the dancer to Dax.

Aw man, that clearing out the quarters thing sounds great. I'd never even thought about that aspect.  Hee hee, Jake.

LOVED THIS. There are visual sequences in it that I think I will never forget.
