Those of us who have read the books knew the Godric story would probably end this way. I think we did a pretty good job not commenting on/spoiling this in the last few weeks, too.

Huh. Thanks for the new vocabulary word. I assumed that was a typo and she meant "glides over". Not that "glides over" makes the most sense in the context of that sentence, unless maybe you spend a lot of time ice skating.

@EvelKareebel: When does this depth show up? I'm two thirds of the way into the first book, reading with my 8 year old. She's completely jazzed about it, but I'm fighting hard to stay awake. What is it about the first book that encouraged grown-ups without kids to keep reading, anyway?

And the picnic basket kleptomania?

The haters are just jealous that they were unable to find employment in the exciting, lucrative field of bacon consumption.

I like DD&D. Guy appears to be enjoying the food so much, that I feel like I'm sort of eating vicariously through him. He gets all the calories and cholesterol (can't imagine what his arteries must look like), and my '91 high school prom dress still fits. Good deal.

I agree with Scott Tobias about Ferris Bueller. I thought he was a selfish asshole when I was 13 and I still feel that way about him now. However, I do enjoy the scene in the Art Institute with that awesome instrumental version of "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want".

I thought the discussion was scheduled for this week, too. I finished up last week—but I skipped last month's selection to give myself more time to tackle this one.

That pretty much sums it up for me, too. Good night all.

Maybe that casserole just needed some fava beans and a nice chianti.

Don't eat before watching this Todd
I'm still feeling kinda sick . . .

SPOILERS cont'd:

I was initially optimistic about the whole Twilight thing. I mean, anything that gets teenage girls excited about books has to be good, right? Wrong.

I was still living in the bible belt when we covered R&J. Someone had recorded a bit of the local news over the nude scene. We were pretty confused.

Well, season 2 of The Love Boat is up there on the release list (not even the whole season . . . for $37?!). Enjoy!

Wedding dance advice: If you care about how silly you look, you haven't consumed enough alcohol yet. Head back to the bar and try again later.

I just gathered the kids around my laptop to watch the wedding dance. Smiles all around.

I think the book author wanted Sookie to be imprisoned in the basement, so she conveniently made this guy be one of the people Sookie has a harder time reading. Some people come in crystal-clear, others don't. She gets a better "signal" with physical contact.

My father (62 years old) has been raving about how funny this Dunham guy is. I still haven't seen his act, but now I'm worried that my dad's not just lame but also a dumbass.

I never shuffle and I only buy whole albums. Today I listened to all of Neon Bible, Wincing the Night Away and a couple of old albums by the Roches (those chicks are awesome). Since I'm going to see Neko Case tomorrow night, I've gotta plug Fox Confessor Brings the Flood and Middle Cyclone.
