Pouring one out on the ground, in memory.

Agreed. Just look at the Best Picture lineup for '75: Nashville, Jaws, Cuckoo's Nest, Dog Day Afternoon, and Barry Lyndon.

Not to mention Darjeeling Limited, The Bourne Ultimatum, Superbad, Knocked Up, Walk Hard, Sunshine, Rescue Dawn, 28 Weeks Later, Black Snake Moan, Breach, Sweeney Todd, The Mist, 1408, and American Gangster.

It's a toss-up. Whedon is a better writer but Abrams is hands-down the better director.

Precisely why I haven't had the desire to do shrooms in the last 5 years or so.

It's a good idea to have someone around who's done it before to keep things smooth and grounded. At the very least: if you ever start to feel bad, just remember that you're on drugs and soon it'll be over. In general, I've never had a bad time on shrooms - not as intense as LSD, and if done right can provide a mild

The title "There Will Be Blood" is just so goddamned perfect. Not just in the way it encapsulates the various subjects throughout the film (family, religion, oil), but that before we ever learn anything about the characters or the plot, we're pretty much told that things are going to get ugly - it's an almost

You were right the first time.

I noticed that too, but didn't so much mind - they tend to do best when the film in question is particularly absurd or outlandish, and this one just seemed kinda bland.

Hire Steve Coogan and Michael Winterbottom.

Definitely going to revisit a number of the eps from this year - the streak between Batman & Robin and Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human is some of the best stuff they've ever done.

Mass Romantic and Twin Cinema have better individual tracks, but Challengers hands down is their strongest, most cohesive overall album. It just gets better with each listen.

1. James Blake - Overgrown
2. Autre Ne Veut - Anxiety
3. Charli XCX - True Romance
4. My Bloody Valentine - mbv
5. Deafheaven - Sunbather
6. Dirty Beaches - Drifters / Love is the Devil
7. Justin Timberlake - 20/20 Experience
8. Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires of the City
9. Mikal Cronin - MCII
10. Wampire - Curiosity

Nothing in Rises is as good as Ledger's Joker, but in large it's the most tightly paced and entertaining of the trilogy.

Quite a bit, as they're my two favorite Kanye albums. Even so, Yeezus mostly left me cold, so I can understand where you're coming from.

Black Skinhead is a banger, no doubt. the rest has its moments but feels kinda slapped together and half formed. And boy, is that Strange Fruit sample offputting.

Not to mention:

I absolutely loved the initial episodes of Dead Like Me (it still has one of my very favorite pilots of all time), but distinctly remember taking a very sudden and steep drop in quality very early, marked by repetitive storylines, mismanaged tone, and sudden changes in the rules of the universe. Wasn't until years

Agreed - his razzing the failed Frankie Teardrop caller was great. The Wurster call was solid this week too.

Jupin and Szyszka mentioned after one of the live shows that they initially had it lined up for last year's blockbuster series until HDTGM did it. I feel like enough time has passed so that their take will seem fresh. I'm looking forward to it, if only for the prospect of the returning Matthew Broderick impression.
