Y'know, when I was a teenager, teen moms were just girls from your school who weren't all that different from you.  Admittedly, my school had a high rate, but you wouldn't look down on a girl for being pregnant.  But that clip.  That girl.  She's not like the chicks I went to hs with who had babies.  She's not even

Wow.  I watched the clip based on the strength of your recommendation.  That was sadder than even a "reality" show about teenage mothers has any right to be.

I dunno, it sort of made sense to me at the time. Weren't they on a ferry or something?  I guess someone wanted to ride their horse on the other side instead of a car?

Maybe Paranormal Activity was rated R due to the general awfulness of the protagonists and the excruciating nature of sitting through all the parts of the movie where they are not getting killed?  Wouldn't have made it through the whole thing if my husband hadn't made me…

Then again, I saw Ringu (after I saw The Ring) and was disappointed and flummoxed.  For instance, in the Ringu video, there's a man standing, wearing a white hood and pointing at the ground.  I watch lots of Japanese anime and movies, but I still had no idea what this was supposed to be or why it was supposed to be

I think The Ring is much scarier.  You should watch both so that you can weigh in on the debate. FWIW, I heard that Hideo Nakata actually likes the Gore Verbinski version better.  I felt that the remake amped up the creepiness of the ring video by an order of magnitude and in general just took lessons from what did

You are obviously not an accountant in real life, ganondorf!

I saw Ju-On first, and it scared the hell out of me.  I mean, sleeping with the light on scared, and I was all grown up!  I never need to see it again, I remember all the scares quite well.  In fact, I'm about to buy a house with the entrance to the attic in a bedroom closet.  Don't think I'll be going in my attic for

That's an awesome story!  That is one of the things I really like about The Ring (only seen it once, probably don't need to see it again) was the way that it could make things you would see in normal life seem scary and threatening.  Some people complain about the Ring video, but they included lots of images of things

This is a serious question and deserves an answer!  Please?

Agreed except for "Take Me To The River"  I don't think anything could be better than the studio version of that song.

Er, their lyrics are great, if you're in sixth grade.  I remember being slightly older than that and listening to "Black" until I realized that I had classmates who could write lyrics that were equally profound.  I've hated them ever since.  That is all.

The problem with your argument is that a lot of these shows are watched by folks who are far less self-aware about what they are doing and are less media savvy to boot.  So you wonder how watching a train wreck could make you feel better about yourself?  That's a good question. I think that the answer is simply that

Ahem!  When I was that age, I dated an 18-year-old, which I am pretty sure my mother ruled against categorically.  Did it anyway.  I'm just saying, I don't think they should have allowed her to marry, but if they're conservative folk, they might prefer that she be married to, rather than just f**king him, given that
