They even abandoned cutaways by the first episode. It actually didn't take the show long for it to grow out of FG's shadow. Now only if the rest of the world would see it that way…

Well of course a robot would say that. Especially of the milkproof variety.

As many times as is funny.

Best of the season, easily.

But who would play Duke Philips today? I hear Harry Shearer is available… Is a joke I would've made had this news come out several months ago…

If it's not a children's cartoon on Cartoon Network (or not co-created by the AV Club's lover, Dan Harmon) then obviously it's not a cartoon worth reviewing.

Somehow American Dad! really became the successor to The Simpsons in a way. Although it took a little bit longer than the latter to find its footing, it has had a very long consistent run with only minor dips here and there, much like The Simpsons during its first 10 years (and you might be able to tack another 2 to 5

Well, I mean, give credit where credit is due, he did co-create the thing for what it's worth. And it uses his artstyle (even if it does subtly differentiate itself from Family Guy in several ways).

That song was amazing. Probably even better than Alexis' song. This was my favorite episode so far, easily.

Alexis' voice bothered me originally, but somehow I've grown used to it, and dare I say even like it? At the very least, I really enjoyed the song while they were tied up in the tree. Especially since she began singing it a second time when they got tied up again.

That probably had something to do with it, but as I've mentioned here before in a DVD commentary they mention that the writers were pitching each other ideas, trying to make each other laugh, and one of them said "Wouldn't it be funny if we killed Maude?"

Do you also feel that the show should end, and that it's existence today retroactively ruins the enjoyment you got from past episodes?

"On second thought, let it continue!"

"Let it end already!"

I think this is true for a lot of shows, one example that comes to mind is how Patrick Stewart records his lines for American Dad!. He's usually in England, so getting him into an actual studio would be impossible most of the time. But it's hardly noticeable, and I can only think of one instance in an early episode

Hot diggidy daffodil!

I like the way you think! Throw in a "Tumblr" in there somewhere and you're hired!

Bush was actually a pretty good sport about his public appearance and wasn't afraid to poke fun at himself. See him with Steve Bridges at the 2006 correspondents dinner for example.

I read that as "excessive tribadism".

Your lack of scanning has moved me… TO A BIGGER LOUSE!
