Farcical doesn't mean inferior merely a style. Farce by definition is 'an exaggerated humorous play in which the plot depends upon a skilfully exploited situation rather than on the development of character'.
Using this definition Blackadder applies more as it mostly focused on the situation while The Thin Blue Line

"He's slippery. Like an owl."

"Drugs are the effluent of today's society and I'm the Toilet Duck!"

Never having heard of The Good Guys I assumed it was an American remake of Operation Good Guys.

How can something be 'much gentler' and 'more farcical'?

While The Thin Blue Line is only modestly funny (but better than a lot of other shows) DI Grim is in my top list of best sitcoms characters.

I thinks it popularity is made to seem larger by reviewers and the media talking about it. The reason being that it centres on a writer so reviewers find it easy to write about and they latch on to a show they can relate to. Also the show is made for easy criticism and discussion on sexual politics, where criticism on

I don't recall Lena Dunham ever saying 'chocolates, chocolates, chocolates aack'.

That was an episode I saw on TV once to decide if the show had changed enough from it's first episodes to get back into it, Thought it was different but still pretty meh.

Ernest and Celstine looks good I'll have to see if it will be released theatrically in Australia.

No, we're all about constructive discussion now.

I thought for a minute it was a remake of the 1934 film called Maniac.
"Between the gangsters and the auto drivers we don't need another war to carry off the population."

and DIC

The sad thing is that in terms of animation the same proportion of shows are as badly done as they were back then.

70's live-action was great!

@avclub-e129a878f7b0e5aa9ac09e0282f64ea6:disqus At least 60's Disney (when they did do animation) avoided lazy UPA tactics that the other studios were using.

Nice of you to take time away from your day job of writing the cutaways for Family Guy.

I haven't seen that but it sounds great!

Filmation made HB look like Fantasia but is still miles better than DiC.

It may be nostalgia but the way Hanna-Barbera used limited animation looks better than flash.
