I didn't think there were any Hancock's Half Hour and Steptoe & Son fans on here, I think Galton & Simpson are probably the best sitcom writers of the 20th century.

This post seems to coverage his grievances about The Simpsons' influence.

I don't agree with all of his views on The Simpsons but agree on some of his thoughts on it's influence. Mostly that it made in most animated shows afterword characters are more static and mostly use dialogue for humour rather than coming from the animation. John.K seems to come to things more from a cartoonist and

Unsubtle isn't really much of a criticism of the show because it never really tries to be subtle. If your looking for a show that mixes the balls to the wall Linehan humour with subtle characters and development I'd go for Black Books (more the first series because it was co-written by Linehan unlike the others but

The score on 30 Rock is great because it's linked so seamlessly to the action that you hardly notice it but really enhances the storyline.

Also there seems to be a trait in the AV Club where they seem to separate British TV and other nationalities from America. It seems ludicrous to say that American TV is made in a bubble outside of the influence of any other cultures especially in regards to sitcoms. Most of the time they form an American focused

I've always thought M&Ms better than Smarties.

I didn't say they weren't funny but weaker compared to episodes earlier in the series.

I agree with the assessment of The Haunting of Bill Crouse. It's missing in Father Ted terms, the perfectly piece of dirt to point out the obviousness of the hoary exposition needed to deliver the pay-off of thinking Jen is a ghost.

These last two episodes are kind of weak and I think it's a problem The IT Crowd generally has. It starts with some strong episodes at the start of each season and the quality goes down as the episodes go on only to deliver another strong episode the next series.

"Eternal Moonshine of the Simpsons Minge" was the second worst Simpsons porn parody I've ever seen!

And why would anyone want to live in Midsomer you're bound to be killed eventually.

I think I might of mentioned this in another thread would there be any way you could convince the AV Club to do reviews of the final series of Poirot?

Wasn't that the joke?  Marge asks "and when was the last time you heard anybody mention Ren and Stimpy?" to enforce that this an old piece of animation by having the characters refer to an out of date reference.

What's the point? They're not charging American viewers to watch it. What would they lose from allowing us to watch?

Was episodes with deleted scenes a thing in older shows before DVDs or was The Simpsons one of the few?

I don't mean a daily thing something like the current Late-night Round Up where a writer watches a week of a different daytime show and does a one off write-up.

I guess some will be covered in 100 episodes (even short running game shows would be eligible) but write-ups on memorable episodes would be great.

Could AV Club do a Daytime Round Up or would it be too mind-numbingly boring?
