I understand that as technology and viewing habits change, theaters are struggling. Home theater technology will continue to get better, more closely resembling the theater experience. But the solution should not be theaters trying to emulate the home viewing experience but to surpass
it.

Why this movie exists
Cars merchandise has generated almost 10 billion dollars globally.

DOA
is an interesting choice given how insane the opening is. I'm not discounting its inclusion here, just remarking at what glorious, batshit, bravura bookends that film has. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go snort a warehouse-long line of cocaine.

Dizzy's gloriously cliched death scene
How anyone can watch this movie, and then get to that scene, and not realize the entire film is satirical is beyond me. Cliches abound in it. The early high school stuff is so spot-on and cheesy it makes you wince.

The only way I'll watch this Cameron Crowe zoo movie
is if it stars Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt

"Imma softmore in crawlage"

The opening sequence (and song)
in this movie alone is worth the price of admission. I really liked it but it does require some patience. Watching the children play with bugs is pretty darned entertaining too.

A fascinating and glorious failure
I don't think this movie succeeds as much as Mr. Tobias but Costner is pretty good in this against-type role. I think if this movie had worked it'd probably be less interesting. But I'm in complete agreement on Costner being underrated. Also underrated: Open Range.

HE TRIED TO EAT MY RAYMOND!
I miss you, Old Tim Burton.

Ugh
I don't care how big, how loud, how immersive, or how 3D my home theater gets. It will never, ever replicate the viewing experience provided by watching a film in a darkened theater with an audience of strangers. To me, this matters. To others, it doesn't. I don't think theaters will be totally obsolete but I do

The Barefoot Contessa
is rarely mentioned when discussing Bogie films but it's one I really love. Check it out!

Opening jokes
I certainly had problems with many elements of the show (the interpretive dancing, the best actor/actress buddy system, not letting Roger Corman speak) but Martin and Baldwin's opening bit was not among them. I was laughing my ass off, as were the 12 other people I was viewing the show with. I value and

Todd, are you not aware that I get farty and bloated with a foamy latte?!
(Here's hoping they don't cast Jovovich again. She was awful in it.)

Bruce McGill
I thought y'all did a Random Roles with him but I searched for it and can't find it. Did I dream that exists? If so, you should do it. It'd be great. Make it happen!

187 is the code for homicide IN CALIFORNIA
Not in Detroit. Ah, Hollywood.

Who's Wings?
Only the band The Beatles *could* have been!

Jesus

New Vitalic
makes me very happy. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some dogs I need to throw through the air.

Allow me to defend someone I very much disagree with
I feel the fault here lies less with D'Angelo and more with his editor(s). The article does have a "dickish tone" that sounds unintended and perhaps this could have been pointed out and tweaked without sacrificing his thesis. Also, it shouldn't have appeared so soon

Calm down monsters
Everybody chill out. Read Murray's answers in the comments. Don't take it as a personal attack if your favorite one-season-show isn't on here. Good lord. By the way, Firefly was awful.
