Was scrolling down the comments just to see where the dirty 'foreigners' were talking about Iron Man 3 (sorry, Iron Man Three). I'll be careful not to go into spoiler territory, but I loved what Black did with The Mandarin. The internet, however, does not seem to agree…

Agreed. The man may be batshit crazy but he has made very few truly terrible films. Even Will Smith has Wild, Wild West.

Does John Travolta's Terl from Battlefield Earth make a cameo? (Hubbard's) Avengers, Assemble!

A sad day. I kind of hoped this column would run forever, eventually eclipsing the number of actual cult films in existence…

New Cult Canon introduced me to The Room. Thanks for that. (In my best Wiseau accent) "You know what they say, Tobias. Love is blind…"

You forgot about Talk Radio! I think Stone has had his day though. Even if there's something to be found in W. (whatever it was it didn't register with me) there's no forgiving Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and the baffling ineptitude of the ending to Savages…

WAKE UP, BRUCE!

It's just a shame that charisma vacuum Butler is the lead. Put Statham in the lead and you've got yourself a winner, baby…

@avclub-93e06678bf43969ed7f3b3377605aa8c:disqus Proof Bob still has what it takes to show the kids how it's done…

I'm genuinely amazed there was no Lara Bingle/Masterchef cross promotion episode…

It's already been done. It was called Lockout, and Guy Pearce was pretty fucking awesome as Snake Plissken…

Just in the same way TCM was 'loosely' based on Ed Gein, Wolf Creek is 'loosely' based on Australian serial killer Ivan Milat…

The Amazing Spider-Man took itself far too seriously, yet was too inept to warrant being taken seriously. Garfield and Stone deserved better.
The 3D was fucking terrible, too…

@Cinedouche yeah that's the one. I kinda wish I didn't chicken out on asking him a question, because he seemed to have a lot of fun with the more 'out there' questions. By the way if anyone's interested, PTA's favourite movie of the last five years: Ted.

2012. The best year in film since 2007.

You could throw Dredd in there. Despite The Raid and Dredd having the same premise, the tone was still different enough in each film for both to stand on their own. The Raid was just the most relentless action film in eons, whereas Dredd balanced the typical gun play with the black comedy in a way that would make Paul
