I love Mann's aesthetic and when I first watched To Live and Die In LA last year, it was cool, but not amazing (hardly the revelation Thief was when I finally got around to seeing that a few years ago). I kind of chalk it up to not really loving William Petersen as an actor (which is also one of the reasons I don't

In the Futurama commentary track for Luck of the Fryish, John DiMaggio says that he got to work with Anthony Michael Hall (in response to Fry pulling the Breakfast Club soundtrack out of the safe) and Billy West immediately starts singing "Nobody Cares." John DiMaggio laughs and starts singing along with him.

I can't imagine trying to talk about the book with a book club, because it seems so superficial. But then I haven't been part of a group book discussion since college.

Hmm, thanks. They all look like pretty quick reads, but last night my eyes were kind of sliding off the page, so I haven't decided to stick with the series yet.

Wait, how many did you take? Was it more than one? That wasn't part of our deal, Blackheart! That wasn't part!

Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer. It's…odd. I haven't yet decided if the stilted tone is clever or annoying. I guess they're making a movie out of the series, which isn't a big surprise.

Like something out of My Dad Wrote a Porno.

What ever happened to the Narnia movie series? I really wanted them to do Silver Chair, it's the weirdest one. Oh, hey, they're going to make it.

If your cutoff for when pop music started being generally bad is really 1970, I'm going to guess you are between 54 and 59 (discounting you 10 years because you seem to be preternaturally cranky). How did I do? Reasonably close?

You are definitely being an Old when you refer to her as "that Goulding woman." Also, if you don't think Bruno Mars has some straight fire hits then I absolutely cannot help you. But this is what always happens. You get old, you get disconnected from music, and then you act like the music has changed and become bad.

The world is a vampire.

He did just make The Nice Guys.

See, my first thought upon seeing this headline was "Can't they just kill off his character like they did to Channing Tatum?" It feels like a poignant commentary on our attitude toward our military, where we claim to venerate them, but in fact view them as interchangeable and disposable.

Yeah, the turn the series takes after ME1 is a bummer, because I was really enjoying the whole "fight against impossible creatures from beyond" angle.

I can't agree with you on either score.

Pretty sure that's the idea. The one with the origin of the Chicken Lady, where she goes back to her childhood home and has the flashback to her birth, where Foley looks over to McKinney as his drooling son (and father of Chicken Lady) and says "What have you done?" is definitely played as a nightmare.

Nature abhors a vacuum.

Yeah, it made me wonder why he'll never be able to have it again - it doesn't seem like it's in any way endangered.

He's the source of all our pain.

You have the will of the housewife, or, at best, the schoolmarm.
