I caught the last 20 minutes or so of Paths of Glory on TV a couple of months ago and completely agree - absolutely spellbinding, hard to look away.

I watched half of one episode and thought it was laughably bad, despite the inclusion of cast members from three of my favourite shows (The Wire, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Six Feet Under). It just generally seemed to be trying way, way too hard to be funny.
