Yeah exactly; this is a good summary of why the "starving children in Africa" argument is so tiresome and frustrating, even if the person making the argument actually intends to feed starving children in Africa.

"I will take a million dudes fumbling their way through Feminism 101 over
yet another tiresome bro-type who rejects feminism entirely."

Having watched all seven episodes, I can say with some confidence that despite the things that made it audacious and daring, this show… well… this show sucked. The comedy just felt off from the start, with lots of poor timing and mumbly, uninspired improv. And, it wasn't just the fat jokes that felt crude and cheap -

Yeah, it was interesting how this article took such pains to point out that every single woman in the world is worse off than every single man in the world, and stuff… oh wait, what article are we talking about?

I think he used to make Anna Nicole Smith (fat) jokes, too. I vaguely remember one time he made some crack about her: the audience responded tepidly, but then slowly started applauding; Conan replied "no, it's OK - your first response was correct".

I had no idea Noble was so young - if he was 40 this year, that means he must have been in his early 20s around the time of Rodan's "Rusty" and Rachel's "The Sea and the Bells" and "Handwriting", all of which are excellent. I was just listening to Rachel's yesterday; this news bums me out.

The other day, I went to see an OK little comedy on a smallish screen and paid $13.50 for the privilege. Even without torrents, there's a whole Internet of interesting entertainment; and especially now that so many theaters show movies in digital formats - it gets harder and harder to justify spending so much just to

After hearing a lot about how weak Gilmore Girls' sixth season was, I was really kind of pleasantly surprised - it's not as strong as the previous five seasons, but it holds its own and there are some great episodes in there. I think the show didn't really go downhill until the seventh season, and even that isn't so

Honestly, this is why I like the AV Club boards - if I want to learn more about any given pop-cultural entity, I can come on here and find people discussing it with some depth and insight.

We should never make the Brie of Brie-ing each others' feelings.

Reminds me of this time I was on the subway (and if you know the NYC subway, you know that people tend to keep to themselves) - this guy was trying to preach the word, and he was like "Alright Christians, MAKE SOME NOISE!" - the train was dead silent. And he goes "I CAN'T HEAR YOU!" to which the train remained dead
