Tracy Lord (Katharine Hepburn) and Macaulay Connor (James Stewart). Liz would've gotten over it, because she's awesome, and CK Dexter Haven had his boat and riches and stuff.

You're right. Guess David Sim's cluelessness is catching around here parts.

Good to know. I do like the Kuna, and Koreeda's work does usually kick into another gear half of the way through (it's just usually the middle isn't 5 hours in?). I'll get back to it when I'm a little less distracted.

TV: Caught up on a bunch of sitcoms. The Middle (which has been killing it) > Parks and Recreation (solid) > The Mindy Project (which the AVClub is really down on, but makes me laugh as much as anything) > The New Girl (I'm a little bored with Nick/Jess and very bored with Schmidt/Cece) > Community (I… might be

I got through three episodes of Going My Home last month, and I love Koreeda and I'm intrigued by the characters. But the pace was really slow and it the plot amorphous (like do we really need the continuing non plot thread of the father not having an affair?).

History is Made at Night. I know it's on Hulu, but I want to inflict its swooning romanticism and whiplash genre changes on everyone I know. I think there's a Brazilian release? But yeah, why is Criterion holding out on me like that? (They also have To Be Or Not to Be, of which my friend thoughtfully gifted me the

Didn't she have her own cop show on CBS? Any cop show on CBS has got to last longer than one season.

My favorites are Black Narcissus and A Canterbury Tale (and not just because they're the two available on Netflix instant). Says a lot of the Archers ouevre that three different people have named six different favorites.

I haven't seen nearly enough musicals, but "Pick Yourself Up" in Swing Time never fails to get me up on my feet and euphoric. Astaire/Rogers for the win. I mean, it's basically a summary of their whole partnership in < 10 minutes.

I agree that the Angel crew are not "work friends"— you couldn't have a betrayal arc like Wesley's with some work friends. I think it's more that they relationships to one another are very individualized.* Unlike say Buffy, for instance, where there are nuances to interplay between Buffy/Xander/Willow(/Giles), their

Annoyed all the geriatic romances were G-rated*. It was especially obvious because the romance between Dev Petel's hotel owner and his call-center girlfriend was so very not.

Man, the one scene where Denzel passes out on the coffee table made me cringe so hard at all the bad life choices.

I haven't seen a lot of movies this year. But I've been trying to catch up the last two weeks. Man, why is it that half of the movies on this list haven't even come out yet? There are other weekends, Hollywood! (And the art movies probably won't even start limping into my theaters until January, like A Separation, or

I agree with Time Bulleteer that the first season is underrated. A lot of the episodes have a fun B-movie feeling (Invisible Girl! Nightmares! Hyena-spirit-body-snatching!). The show is definitely calibrating itself though, as many shows do, and it additionally suffers from apparently no budget. If you're not into
