Untouchables: My Family's Triumphant Journey Out of the Caste System in Modern India - Narendra Jadhav

Not true at all. Rushdie (pre-Satanic Verses), Vikram Seth, Vikram Chandra, Pankaj Mishra, Arundhati Roy's fiction (important distinction, her nonfiction causes ulcers), Amitav Ghosh have all been warmly received in India.

Read Vikram Chandra's Sacred Games and the essay about the very thing you guys are discussing.

“Bullshit is a carefully constructed artifice designed to obscure truth.”

Pssst profdragon. I gave London Calling the mandatory five spins. Did nothing for me so I moved on.

Give me the details about the wedding dress!!!!

Hipster D-Bag in 4,3,2,1…
Oh and they suck. Ass and balls.

I know fewer than half the things mentioned in this thread. A proud moment in an otherwise insignificant life.

Now?

That should have been "Via Ewwww."

You listen to Take That?

"…sexless, humorless, colorless music"
I don't hate PJ, but that describes them perfectly. The main reason why they and their imitators should be kept away from classic rock. BTW, the above also describes a depressing amount of music that makes it to a lot of year-end lists here and elsewhere.
EDIT: I listen to radio

I will se this for Jess Weixler who was fantastic in Teeth. That Boyle kid isn't half bad either.

Yeah, how humorless and insecure do you have to be to not enjoy Falco?

I'm taking odds this person wants to be affiliated with Odd Future in some way. He wants it real bad.

Are those standards high or unreasonable?

Check out A Case of Exploding Mangoes. It's a darkly funny novel about the Pakistani ruling class. Details in the link above.

As always, it's useful to check the reactions in the artist's own backyard. Crouching Tiger got a shrug in Asia (sorry, no links). White Tiger was pretty much dumped on by the Indian critics. Link 1   Link 2

I don't always agree with any critic, but good critics like Ebert and some of the OGs on this site often make you reassess your own views. I tend to rate critics for the work they've done over the years instead of going apeshit over a few disagreeable reviews.

Retweeting an unfunny joke about an awful event. Great judgment, as a comedy writer and a human being.
