Christ, I just listened to that song for the first time. And I am SO GLAD I was two years old when that came out, and that my musical intake was largely Sesame Street songs. How did you guys LIVE with that song on the radio?!

Technically, Janis Joplin is a one-hit wonder. "One-hit wonder", according to Billboard, means you got something in the top 40 only once.

The only time I ever watched TRL was to see NSYNC's "It's Gotta Be Me" when I was, like… ten? Eleven? I feel weird when people my age say it was such a huge part of their lives, because I literally watched it once.

LanaKane pretty much nailed that it's a rip-off of Thriller, but it's a surprisingly watchable, creative rip-off of Thriller.

I was so disappointed that "I Want My MTV" didn't cover anything beyond 1992 for this reason. MTV pretty much made boyband pop culture with TRL.
