How do you create a Dayton, Ohio based supergroup and not include either of the Deal sisters?

That college radio setup sounds very similar to the one we had a college. Somehow the signal was transmitted through the power outlets in the dorms or something. Nobody listened to ours, either.

I absolutely loved Chozen! Not ironically, either. Really funny show with a completely unique protagonist. Gone too soon. RIP Chozen.

Seriously. If I even think of his speech affectations in that movie I smile to myself. Such a hilarious performance.

Well, there is currently a state representative in my state trying to write a law that would make flying the confederate flag illegal. I don't think it's going to pass, but I fundamentally disagree with the motivation. That's the kind of thing I was alluding to when I said I disagree with it being against the law to

Right after this game of bocce. You have such nicely manicured grass, I can't help myself.

I'm not at all a member of the "anti-pc crowd." I'm generally very politically correct, and very careful to use terminology and language that protected groups use when describing themselves. But there is a vast gulf between being conscientious, and forcing others to be conscientious. I don't want it to be illegal to

But that's not what this petition is about - it's about showing a single farmer humanely butchering their livestock somehow being too offensive for our delicate sensibilities. I know I sound like I'm roughly 1000 years old and yelling at a bunch of kids to get off my lawn, but I am so goddamn sick of people thinking

I get sad whenever I think about Eleven. :(

Damn! I knew I was forgetting at least one of my favorites! Love the guitar in that song.

Just helped a student with a computer issue and his desktop image was from a Nirvana concert. His comment: "I know they're from before my time, but they're my favorite band." (He was negative three years old when Kurt died). Anecdotal evidence = proven fact.

Can't imagine he'd call her a "very close friend," though.

I would have put like five of the songs on that album out as the lead single over Hunger Strike. Say Hello to Heaven, Call Me a Dog, Wooden Jesus, Times of Trouble, All Night Thing. Shit, I need to listen to that album again. It's been at least 5 years.

Yep, and Pretty Noose is a great album opener, and Boot Camp is a perfect closer. Just really well put together with lots of different textures and songwriting contributions (which was their greatest strength, in my opinion). In hindsight, it may be my favorite album of theirs - it's the one I've listened to most in

Never knew they performed on that song. Did they play on the whole album? I just put that on a playlist about a month ago after remembering how great his version was. Like Hurt, it really feels like it was written for him.

Frances Bean? Just a guess. Nirvana T-shirts are pretty ubiquitous these days. They're about the only band from my youth that I see college students wearing (I work at a college).

I love the song, and it's one of the best from Down on the Upside, but my

I love this song and the whole album. Terribly underrated.

It's been a long time since I've read it, too, so you're probably right. I did feel like Grossman made a point to reinforce their WASP-y, emotionally chilly aspects, but that could have very easily been due to their brains being tampered with by Brakebills.

As a parent myself, I can't see myself becoming THAT distant and disinterested, no matter what my kids are doing. I also don't think that distance started when he went off to Brakebills, and the only magic he was doing before that was card tricks.
