Lots of people can post using the "starz" handle; I assume there's many who just decide to post using that.
These old threads are great! In between a "dialogue" between a screenwriter and the AV Club editors, someone tells Tobais that they will give him a reach around and "anal lubbe sex spanking." God I love this place.
"hard anal gooch anything youy want" - What?!?
I love discovering these old threads. This is just hilarious.
I agree, but on the other hand, we are pretty paranoid these days and it isn't a huge stretch for me to imagine that if we were to encounter some alien we'd be paranoid about them possibly wanting to terrorize us or something, especially if they infiltrated us.
"First Contact" as a rare, rule-breaking Star Trek show?
One thing I really enjoyed about "First Contact" upon recently watching it is that it seems different by taking the perspective of the aliens. It was actually an interesting scene to have Picard and Troi beam down the way they did and whatnot. Reading on…
Yes, the mind-wipe resolution gives me all sort of issues. I found it difficult to not have objections to that. The episode as a whole is pretty fun, but that resolution makes it difficult to keep the suspension of disbelief up.
The only thing sadder than failed secondsies is earnest comments that actually respond to it.
It was a very Kirk scene, wasn't it, having Riker fuck an alien. And the show tells us that he does it, too - in the middle of needing to escape a pretty pressing situation, too. That's pretty great. Yeah, Bebe could have been used to better effect, but I like her in this role.
"I can't find his heart pulse. (searching in new area) Hold on, found it." "In his digestive tract?"
"I've always wanted to make love to an alien."
I don't know if I'd say it is one of the most literate shows on TV, but it is certainly one of the most quotable (which is maybe what you meant?). But yes, I love the idea that they won't use the word "masturbation" to refer to the physical act, but George can use it metaphorically when referring to his writing a…
As much as "The Contest" is groundbreaking…
"The Airport is probably my favorite out of these. The Kramer and George scheme is just hilarious. The "I like to shop at the duty free shop" ditty has always stayed in my head, and I'm obliged to sing it anytime I come across a duty free shop.
Many Christmases ago, I went to buy a doll for my son. I reached for the last one they had, but so did another man.
TIME FOR THE AIRING OF GRIEVANCES
I completely agree. What a fantastic album.
Yeah, I realize that DS9 did the serialized storytelling thing and did it well; I guess it began in a slightly different time when that sort of thing was becoming more common on TV? Really, though, I think it must have had something to do with Gene being gone; TNG continued with the TOS trend of status quo by the end…
Bonk bonk on the head, bonk bonk

You

Eh, I didn't care for the episode very much; it was difficult to sympathize with Troi, though perhaps - given Riker's speech - we're not supposed to? On one hand, I can understand that we're supposed to feel bad for Troi because she lost an ability that she was used to having, so it would seem jarring and upsetting…
