Well, yes there is, to the extent that there's fan consensus in any show's fandom. By just about any measure, the 50th anniversary special was hugely successful.

Have you watched any of RTD's finales lately?
Yeah, it's an awesomely sweet little scene: "I mind raped you and deposited you back in a life that it was made very clear you hated, but here's a lottery ticket so you can at least buy stuff and live comfortably, even though I mind raped you as you begged me not to do it." SUPER sweet.
Nope, it is absolutely a fuck you. I have always hated the way fans simplify the mind wipe thing. She BEGGED the Doctor not to do it. The Doctor, a man, decided he knows better what is best for his female companion and against her wishes mind rapes her. It was pretty abundantly clear she would have rather died…
I think at least with Clara, she came back in a three-part finale story, so I don't know if that should be considered alongside Rose leaving at the end of a finale along with the weepy "She's gone for good" thing and then bringing her back randomly later. Clara coming back in the finale which is the continuation of a…
EXACTLY. It's just as fucking stupid as the "cars kill people every day, way more than guns - why not ban cars?" Because cars are not made to kill! They can be dangerous. There are laws to mitigate that danger. Pretty stringent ones too. But besides police, no one needs a gun to commute to work or go to the…
Alcohol is not created to kill. Guns literally only do one thing. It's what they're made to do. It's an idiotic straw man argument. Also, there's PLENTY of public outrage about drunk driving - there are so many ways it is a crime, it's rightfully stigmatized, etc. What a fucking moronic argument.
Say what you might about the song or its sentiments, but that bassline is AMAZING. Seriously, just listen to that bassline. One of the greats of Paul's career in my opinion.
Came to say the same thing; glad someone already got to it.
I liked it. It set the scene nicely and I am definitely interested in what is to come.
What? So because he or she liked it, he/she has to be lying or some such? Sheesh. This is why I bail on most Internet comments sections.
I believe I have read that too, and I'd always taken it as such. I mean, he delayed it a little between Waters of Mars and The End of Time, but even within the show his anger at the end was that he'd had such a short time.
Totally, utterly, completely agree. The finale was such a clusterfuck in my opinion and really undid what it seemed Moffat had been trying (and succeeding!) in doing with Doctor Who thematically in the other few seasons. It finally made me join the chorus of people who were wishing he would be leaving. I loved the…
This is the stupidest, most infuriating argument I've heard all day. YES, there are LOTS of worse assholes doing REAL damage out there. That does NOT excuse THIS asshole and his assholery. And anytime someone is shitty to people with disabilities, especially someone with a platform, and who got an audience to chant…
Jesus Christ, @avclub-eea4aec80a343badf2cb4f3aea3f9bf0:disqus, you're an asshole, give it up, time to pack up and go home now.
I actually assume, after knowing the whole story, that Smokey wasn't actually trying to attack Locke, but maybe "infect" him or take him over somehow. I figure he had already figured out that Locke was susceptible to his loophole plan and was trying to take him then. That might be a retcon though.
wtf is magic lol
The only claim to fame I have here at all is starting the "wtf is ____ lol" one. I was bored at a job I hated at the time and someone on an article about Starz posted "wtf is starz lol" offhandedly so I latched onto that and started posting it on every article I could. Yay.
I think the review does a slight disservice to the film with the "repeating itself" comment. Without giving anything away, there's a reason certain things seem to repeat themselves. I think that should be clarified.
Yeah, the soundtrack is amazing. The faux-opening credits for the film-within-a-film are fantastic and make me wish the movie within was a real movie.
