OK, so apparently they post the job ad for the new nurse, get a bunch of resumes, and hold a series of interviews for the position all in the same day, and all before the old nurse has even been fired. This was all supposed to take place in one day, right? Did that not bother anyone else? And then they just completely

Haven't seen the movie, but there was a chat with the director on Deadspin a day or two ago, and he basically suggested that Gayo's actions should be investigated by MLB and that he shouldn't have a job.

Didn't this show used to be funny?

I think Floyd was the Top Chef Master winner. I don't remember ever seeing Takashi Yagihashi on Top Chef.

See, I love Cohen, don't care one way or the other about Beck, but still really enjoy that cover.

"But in spite of initial criticisms of the album, Room is nearly as good as Songs . . ."
Or, you know, it could be that Room is even better than Songs. And the best album in Cohen's entire discography.

Don't get too excited. It sucks.

I agree with Reformed Calvinist. I stopped paying much attention to Deerhoof after the Runners Four, even though I consider its immediate predecessor (Milk Man (if you don't count the Green Cosmos EP, which is also awesome)) to be one of the best albums of the last decade. Nothing about Runners Four was memorable, and

I loved this movie as a kid. It was shot at Aquarena Springs in San Marcos, Texas, where I went on a family vacation in the early to mid-80s. Not only did they have Ralph, the swimming pig (who is featured in the movie), but also real-life mermaids swimming in a big tank! (Or maybe they were just human

@Miller — If you're looking for a ballsy book of stories with build-up and no resolution, check out If on a Winter's Night a Traveler by Italo Calvino. That's the book that Cloud Atlas most reminded me of, although it's more like Cloud Atlas minus the second half.

The most unbelievable part of the Jesus piss scene was the thought that anyone would actually hang a painting of Jesus right next to their toilet.

Red Sails is the song that makes Lodger a great Bowie album.

Ugh, I Vitelloni is the one of the last Fellini films I'd recommend. La Strada and Nights of Cabiria are good, but why no love for La Dolce Vita? That would be my choice.

I would just like to echo the praise for Jason X. It is indeed awesome, probably my favorite in the series.

Man, the first 30-or-so pages of Lunar Park were so entertaining. I wish the rest of the book had been the same meta-faux-autobiography of Ellis instead of the Stephen King knockoff it became.
