The odd thing? This is exactly how child's TV works, and they found out about this some ten years ago (Blue's Clues, Dora the Explorer, the new Mickey Mouse Club).

Pretty spot on. Doctor Who was never a show rich with subtly, but this one just didn't even bother. I couldn't say it was "fun" either, but I more or less liked the moral dilemma, because we get to see the Doctor angry, and I LOVE when Time Lords get angry.
