Over the weekend I read Volume 13 of Yotsuba&!, which was (as always) pure joy in sequential art form. Unfortunately, it was also (as always) an exceptionally quick read and I already can't wait for the next volume—which is troublesome, given the erratic publication schedule.

Abington, late of Mayfair in the Great Northeast.

Small (comic shop) world! I've bounced back and forth between the two locations—I first found them in Jenkintown, and later went to the Old City shop when I was working in Center City, and ultimately ended back up in Willow Grove. Good shop, great people.

Did you at least yell, "Biff! Pow! Zap! Comics aren't just for kids anymore!" while pummeling them?

Hypertime.

Brave New Worlds, with two locations in the Philadelphia area, is where I have my weekly pull list. I tend to order trades through Amazon, but BNW also has a great selection of overstocked half-price collections that I'll pick up if they catch my eye (Wednesday Comics, most recently)—and I'll often snag a trade on

I think it's dumb, but I'm not yet ready to trot out the ol' torch and pitchfork just yet.

The annotations to DC: The New Frontier deluxe edition! Because the best part of comics is the minutiae, right?

We don't have time for your "facts"! There's an outrage a-transpirin'!

No, no, go back to feeling bad—this book is great!

My haul, all as yet unread:
-Another Castle #3
-Batgirl #52
-Captain Marvel #5
-Monstress #6
-Patsy Walker Hellcat #6
-Thor #7

Marvel: "hanshotfirst1138, we're not Republic serial villains. We did it 42 years ago."

Man, I really miss T-bolts era swashbuckling Zemo.

Right, right… And Helmut, 13th Baron Zemo, isn't a supremacist—he's a superiorist.

I don't recall the quote for my favorite moment in the glorious history of the People's Republic of Treacle Mine Road, but it has to do with John Keel and the Line. The first man across was Sam Vimes, of course, depressingly eager to follow his sergeant into the dangerous work of keeping the peace while the city fell

Who can fathom the mind of giant Kirbyesque space gods? Maybe they're all uptight prudes.

It's not an "A". On his planet, it means "a misinterpretation of Darwinism of the sort preferred by cartoonishly evil villains and also actual racist dumbasses."

Coincidences like that are so weird. A few years ago I'd been debating buying Who Framed Roger Rabbit on Blu-Ray, but when I finally pulled the trigger I found out later in the same day that Bob Hoskins died. Post hoc ergo propter hoc is a fallacy for a reason, but still…

I snagged a bunch of random issues from Comixology's recent Cooke sale (Jonah Hex, Detective), but the Before Watchmen books weren't among them. Technical achievements aside, I don't particularly like Watchmen, so not even Cooke was going to bring me in for prequel books when they were coming out… But I'd be really
