Honestly, every time I try to do something fun or exciting, you make it not that way.

David Bazan. He makes intensely personal music that, over the last 15 years or so, has gradually revealed his loss of faith and constant struggle with growing up under the thumb of religion. Most of my decisions and doubts have, not surprisingly, resulted from listening to his accessible and honest songs.

Good call on Pedro the Lion. Between that project and his solo work, it's a shame David Bazan doesn't have more exposure. He's a fantastic talent and his first solo record ("Curse Your Branches") is probably one of my top 10 favorite discs of all time.
