When Numbers pushed on that wound I really thought I was going to faint. I'd been staring at his hand for the entire episode until that moment (granted, only a few minutes, but still). I've never had that reaction to anything on television before.

Since Sarah is my favorite clone (she had me at drinking the soap!) I was holding my breath during that entire scene! When that psycho bastard fell over dead I thought it was Paul, but then the crazy music gave it away and I was terrified all over again.
Please don't come anywhere near my dog ever. Thanks.
I remember being very impressed with FfH when it was first out, and again when I saw it a few years later, but I watched it a few months ago and didn't care for it. I prefer Sirk, I think, and I also think my change in opinion has a lot to do with how much I've enjoyed Haynes' later work; FfH seems immature to me now.
It's also worth noting that this film is a kind of variation on German emigre director Douglas Sirk's 1955 film All that Heaven Allows. Fassbinder adored Sirk's films and wrote an insightful, wonderful tribute to the director that's worth reading (I don't have a link, but you should be able to find parts of it by…
To each his own :). I think the actor is doing an astounding job of conveying exactly what you think is missing with her eyes and body language.
Yeah, I feel like any sense of her being 'condescending' would be because the people she's around are as sharp as a spoon. It would be frustrating to be a smart person around that kind of idiocy.
This is my first post like this, and I'm not attacking your opinion here, but I think you're completely misreading Molly. Like, completely, utterly, totally.
And what would you say to them? 'Congratulations, everything is terrible, your graduation is meaningless, and nothing you do will have any meaning, so don't bother contributing to anything in any way at all?'
I can highly recommend 'CivilWarLand in Bad Decline', and I enjoyed 'Pastoralia' quite a bit. I bought 'Tenth of December' this past Christmas with a gift certificate someone got for me and I'm hoping to get to it this summer.
I don't think it's weird-there's nothing anywhere that says liking DFW or Saunders means you'll like Vonnegut. I think folks that tend to read one of these authors tends to like all three, but beyond that-you like what you like.
Same reaction here. Was the competing offer Don got really not good enough? I can't imagine why, after hearing those 'stipulations' from the partners, knowing that a buy out would burn the house down, you wouldn't tell the partners to kiss your ass and get out of there.
This new song he has with Black Thought is pretty great, I had no idea he was still around! 'Simon Says' was a favorite of mine when it was out.
This song is sooo catchy! I don't even know who this 'Future' person is (because I am an old lady and an academic and a nerd), but I do like good beats, amazing guest verses, rappers who are charismatic as hell, and the irony of Pusha wearing a Ronald Reagan mask.
Not that I remember, but I confess that I do tune out of most conversations, not necessarily because they're boring, but because I don't want to say anything more than 'yeah' or 'A thing like that.', and it's less tempting to do so if I don't listen.
Yeah, I have no idea how that scene even made it into the film. It was 'Mickey Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffany's' level cringe-worthy.
It can certainly be read that way. There are a lot of broad stereotypes at work in the film; I've only seen it twice, and not for more than a few years so I can't remember them explicitly. The humor is often at the expense of Japanese culture, and although I think you could argue that it's the director's naivete…
It's probably because I haven't had enough coffee today and I half-scrolled through this, but I kept seeing 'MRE' instead of 'MRA', which made this conversation funny multiple times.
I only made it about 1:30 into the video. I muted it around :45 in and then it was just stupid and horrible anyway, so I gave up.
For some reason, even though I watch quite a few shows on HBO, it's the theme from 'Six Feet Under'. I think partly because it's one of my favorite openings for any show ever, and also because the theme music is so immediately identifiable for me.
