I am bad at Disqus and really should've put my comment here, but I'm curious what you'd think about this:

The NYT has an editorial about dealing with unwanted protestors that I'd like to pass along:
Sentiment shared. Maybe my defenses are just a little lower given recent events, but I am sitting here staring at my screen in shock. I had to look this news up at a few other places before I would even allow myself to acknowledge it.
Upvoting for username/picture win.
Given the history of captains that aren't Holt on this show, I'm assuming CJ is not long for the 99, but it sure would be nice to have him stick around for a while. Ken Marino is fantastic.
This is obviously a fraught subject, and I have lots of thoughts, but I also have a couple of philosophical-type questions:
I taught Fun Home to first year undergrads last year, and since I had a few theater nerds in the class I figured I'd study up on the musical just in case the discussion went there. I lucked into a ticket for the Broadway show and I have to say, I would've agreed with you until I saw it. The staging is really lovely. I…
I'm ambivalent about Danny Brown (and 'Frankie Sinatra' isn't doing it for me at all), but my goodness 'The Last Huzzah' is amazing. I don't know a lot about rap but I do love Run the Jewels and have (loosely) followed El-P since the days of Ruckus and Company Flow. Thanks for this list of songs and the inadvertent…
Fair enough. Bresson was a slow burn for me. I started with Mouchette of all things and didn't like it, but once I saw several films in fairly quick succession things began to fall into place and I realized that his work is essential and without equal. I don't like all of his films, but I do admire all of them.
I know I'm in full on Film Professor mode when I see comments like this on evals and think 'You know, he's right! I should consider how different the perception of popular cinema is given our contemporary media landscape where critics and film scholars are not necessarily the most visible or accessible arbiters of…
Quote from one of my teaching evaluations for Intro to Film: 'That French donkey movie made me want to lay in the street.'
Just checked IMDB and he's within 5 years of me, so I guess it's just the baby face and selective memory?
See, JGL will always, always be that kid from 3rd Rock from the Sun for me (probably because I'm An Old), and so I can never find him attractive without feeling awkward about it. He can be 'handsome' in that way your friend's little brother turned out to be not as goofy as he used to be, but that's it.
I agree, although I understand the sentiment behind this petiton. I posted this in hopes of illustrating that people were indeed trying to exercise some way of holding the judge responsible, it wasn't a commentary on whether a recall was warranted or on the efficacy of change.org, which a troll tried to bait me about…
A lot of folks aren't too happy with the judge:
I think this could be an interesting case study for a variety of reasons, but two things in particular strike me as being very generative for further discussion/study:
It can be two things, and in this case-it is.
Thank goodness, I do not drive a poo-mobile!
You guys-I woke up with pink eye this morning. It was funny (thanks Black-ish!) and horrifying and painful. Actually, still painful. :(
