I fell behind a little (I'm on ep. 17), but I'll try to catch up in time to keep following along! Thanks for these.

I started a 'Hillsborough' thread in the comments for this week's '30 for 30' if you'd like to re-comment..
'30 for 30: Soccer Stories-Hillsborough' Thread
I watched the first half of the first season and it felt very rote, and I didn't understand what all the buzz was about. It seems like somewhere in the 3rd season it really starts to fire, so I think I'll skip ahead to there.
So my reason for asking was to see if there was a point of reference for the Malvo character in 'Fargo' that might make sense. Plenty of other folks have pointed out the similarities between the antagonist in 'No Country' and Malvo, but I found him to have a similar kind of menace to Peter Stomare's character in…
Sounds like a personal problem.
Yeah, this is actually the thing that is keeping me from getting into the show. I wanted to catch up since the reviews here seem to warrant watching it, but 22 episodes a season, and the 5th season is airing now…
Good call. And the cans of paint, swinging gently in her hands..
Just out of curiosity (and know that I'm not trying to be patronizing)-have you seen 'Fargo', or some of the other films the Coen bros have made? I wonder if it's more the overall tone that is shading your reaction to what is probably one of the main characters.
The violence ramped up from 'accident' to something horrific so quickly. I could understand him impulsively hitting her once, but for the life of me I couldn't figure out why he hit her again and again. Really upsetting, and not in the kind of 'Coen bros. black comedy' way that I expected.
It really was a fantastic documentary, and I thought of posting something in today's WoT, but couldn't figure out where to put it.
Liked for 'T.V. jail'
I thought the comparison of the Bennetts to the Crowes was a little off as well. One of the things that I loved so much about Season 2 was the strong tie the Bennetts had to their community. Mags derived a lot of her power from her position in the county, and I especially loved the way that the season showed how such…
Ah yes, thanks for the clarification! When I watch an entire season of something over a short time period it does tend to stand as one long story for me and it makes discussion difficult. I have this problem most acutely with GoT, having read all the books.
haha, I suppose it is the casting, really, that I would object to. Because I like the 'idea' of Paul (and I'll step carefully here since you guys are still working your way through) so much, I'm willing to overlook the dead line readings. He feels incredibly necessary to me as a character in this world, and did from…
Two quick things Scrawler (so glad you guys are doing this, it's fun to read! I was a late binge watcher and missed out on the original coverage):
I see your determination to hate Julia and to blame her for everything continues. Maybe…move on?
Same. No one asked me either year. :(
No worries, it can be tough to guess at someone's intent, and as much as I try not to be rude in comments, sometimes I get pretty close.
Pretty much. Most shows I've binge-watched have piqued my interest from the pilot episode on (Friday Night Lights, Justified, etc), and I was disappointed that I didn't feel like immediately watching the next episode even after I got half a season in. I hadn't thought about the longer seasons as part of the problem.…
