So with all of the 'A' grades this show has been getting here, and all of the 'wtf' I'm seeing today (I've managed not to spoil myself), I would really like to get into this show!

Hooray!

I never paid Jeopardy much attention until I started reading the recaps a few weeks ago. I don't watch everyday but I feel like I'm missing something in WOT without seeing Jay's recap.

As a sports lover but non-basketball watcher (the notable exception being the NCAA tournament, which I love to follow every year because it's short, exciting, and accessible to someone like me who enjoys the drama of sport), I enjoyed this documentary quite a bit. It's also been fun to see all the debates in comments

I don't think I'd be able to justify hanging onto Prime if I didn't have a toddler. Most of our orders are toys, and the streaming stuff for kids is a great thing to have.

Doesn't he also start complaining about Roger Ebert too? Or maybe that's someone else.

*SPOILERS*

I feel like it's not worth going over the excellent points others brought up in objection to the gendered reading of Santiago's motivations again. But I think it should be said that the character can be considered 'pathetic' without the baggage of gender in this situation. If Holt were a woman, it could still be

Glad I could help! One last thing and then I promise I'll be quiet-I've always gravitated towards teaching at a smaller school than a large research uni, but I've come to realize that just because the larger school may not care (most likely because their size makes it impossible to do so) about the students in the

Hiya: (your profile picture is adorably puzzling)

I quit about 5 eps in, and then thought I'd try it again this week, but this show….is not good.

I mentioned the Bechdel Test in my class the week we were talking about film noir, and oh my word what a mistake that was! Undergraduates will latch onto ANYTHING that deals in absolutes like that. It was a nightmare.

Yeah, agreed (as, usual, J.P.!). I think it's time to concede. Is this really the hill you want to die on?

Coming off of season 2, the slow, horrifying revelation of just how batshit Quarles turned out to be was amazing. I have zero sense of dread watching the Crowes-they're unpredictable, but not in an interesting way. Danny is stupid and violent, it's obvious that Daryl is not as smart as he thinks he is (which is not

There are any number of reasons, I'm sure, but one factor is certainly that it takes a while for critical consensus to kick in about a given text. Journal articles can take a good while to be published, and these can start conversations between academics that may take a while before critical lines are drawn.

Yeah, in the same boat. I never have time to read any fiction, I'm swamped with journal articles and books in my field. I try to get a book or two in over the summer, but that's it. Mostly I read book reviews and lament not being able to read for leisure.

Hello dear:

As I see it, Joel doesn't seem to give 2 shits about whether Julia 'moved on' or not, nor does he seem to care about her at all. He's too busy with that marathon pity party.

I'm unsatisfied, but also unwilling to really say much more about it here, since that seems mostly pointless, discussions have been going on for weeks now and everyone seems to have their allegiances.

After one of his scenes in this episode I blurted out, mid-laugh, 'why am I even laughing at this guy?'…
