For your own sake, I'm just going to tell you that you're exactly right. However, as intriguing as this turn of events might be, do not, under any circumstances, actually watch the show to see what he's up to. You've been warned.

My memory on that episode is definitely foggy, but I don't think it's the same situation. Why would one impression of one sequence hold true for all scenarios regardless of context? And even if you could draw parallels between them, I have to say I side with Beema on this particular point, as much as I enjoyed this

'from the jump'- idiomatic phrase meaning 'right away'. :)

Another good episode, and another really thoughtful review-thanks Kevin!

Yeah..the whole time I was helping him I remember trying to think of some kind of great reference, but then I decided that given the long history of well-known references, he's probably heard the lot of them.

Wait..so your story is that your co-worker didn't recognize him? Cause not to be mean, but that's not the same thing at all, since it wasn't you talking to him, and the guy wasn't just being facetious.

Quite a few famous people wandered into the bookstore I worked at back in my college days in NYC. I think my favorite one-time-only famous person I got to talk to was Prince. He was polite, and almost seemed shy. I ended up helping him by default because my co-worker looked like he was going to faint and just kept

WOOOO SOUTHLAND!

Liked for Avatar (tLA, not Dances with Blue People) shout-out.

I'm pretty sure my goddamn monocle fell out during the scene in which Jeremy Jordan's character inexplicably berates Karen after she comes to his stupid hipster loft, and she still gives him puppy eyes. Seriously?

Absolutely agree with this. I felt bad for posting yet more negative comments since I know it can be annoying to those who do actually enjoy this show (and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, imo), but I'm glad to see that folks are commiserating rather than just complaining-there is most certainly a

@Mandaliet
The Parks and Rec comments have the most hilarious role playing-almost every character is represented at this point.

I hope I'm not the only person who wanted to punch just about every main character at some point during this episode. I swear I was whispering 'IT'S A TRAP!' to Jesse L. Martin. I also wanted to throw my remote at the television.

This is how I know that whole Constable Bob sequence got to me:

I have been looking forward to 'Badlands' getting the Criterion treatment for months now! Can't wait to have a look at it.

I assure you, it's not just you. Parks is a nice sunny 22 minutes in what is a generally very dark TV landscape for me (by choice, of course).

I suppose I only meant 'anti-intellectual' as a kind of reaction to a perceived 'pretension', but at any rate, I'm just not a fan of either term. They're unproductive, they tend to invite ad hominem attacks, they're often used in a reactionary way (which I'm guilty of) and since definitions for both are fairly porous,

While I understand why The Tree of Life has polarized viewers (and at this point I do wonder at folks who go to a Malick film not expecting the particular ways in which it will go about its ambitions, it's not as though he doesn't at the very least have a reputation for being 'difficult', even if one hasn't seen any

I'm not a MLS person, but I'm gonna make an effort to try to get into watching the league by watching this game. Is this considered a derby? The supporters for both these teams look like lots of fun.

I suggested the 'just scroll past it' thing yesterday and I'm pretty sure it just made him angrier. For pete's sake, LET IT GO. It's honestly really not hurting anything. There's really got to be something else (and hopefully something of substance) to argue about at AVC, there's plenty of content.
