We usually do them around 12:30pm on Thursdays.

Yeah, it's Helmut, first of the boys mentioned.

That's not him.

Definitely possible. But history is on its side—as the big nominee leader, as a film about showbiz, and as a precursor winner. (It has the PGA and the DGA. Watch for how the BAFTAs shake out.) Hidden Figures could slip in for the win, conceivably, but my money is still on La La Land. Remember, backlash didn't cost

I didn't catch much of that, honestly. Though I suppose you could make the case that it's vaguely Pro-Life, given that no one ever discusses alternatives to the astronaut having a baby that puts her life at serious risk.

Oh, man. I couldn't find a clean way to work that in, but I can definitely confirm it.

Clumsy phrasing indeed. Most people liked him in the role (including me; big fan of that performance), but there was a lot of skepticism when those set-photos first surfaced. Technically, he *is* far more miscast in this film, in the sense that he wasn't miscast at all in TOUR. But I'll grant you, clumsy.

This is a fascinating take. I couldn't fit in anything about him being a vet (it is literally addressed only once, at the beginning of the movie, with a photograph), but it does seem significant, doesn't it? At the very least, it explains his internal clock—his ability to just "magically" wake up every morning.

You caught me. But so did another contributor. In fact, it was on all but one of the six ballots. (See: ballots linked above.)

We do it as a Facebook Live Series now, usually on Thursday. Lives on the A.V. Club Facebook page. It's obviously a slightly different show—less clips; no editing—but, hey, if you longed for EVEN LONGER discussions, we usually go for about a half hour. And our hair is still reliably bad.

Good catch. Fixed.

*Try*?

Whoops. You're right. Good catch.

Now hold on, the Lakitu is a *kind* of Koopa, is he not? That's like getting bent out of shape about someone calling Lassie a dog instead of a collie. Also, I use Lakitu two graphs later!

As Hell.

You know, that only occurred to me after I wrote this. Guess Palme Thursday is sitting out '97 week.

It was a humid day.

The entire journey is skipped.

Fair enough. Suppose I could have been more specific about movie stardom (as opposed to fame) and about "fast" as a description of how quickly he accelerated after his big break, as opposed to how long it took him to achieve that break. Anyway, I see your points.
