I guess as something that happens in the last half-hour of the movie, it still seemed important to conceal. But yeah, everyone knows who I'm talking about.

…yeah.

No, you're right, my fault. No real pissiness intended. Anyway, I should have clarified in the piece that there are at least three cuts of this film (I don't really mention the 187-minute one, which I should have, because it's the one I'm basically writing about here). These pieces just get really clogged with asides

Except that The Birds sort of is a comedy, and I think an intentional one. (It's been suggested that the title has a dual meaning, referring both to the animals and the gossipy population of the town.) Scary is subjective; I'll say that I watched it a few years ago and still got a chill from the pecked-out-eyes scene.

The version that showed at Cannes is widely reported to have run 205 minutes. Here are some sources on that; I'll leave it to you to decide if they are more trustworthy than Wikipedia.

Two to go!

We always add one at the bottom. It's there now.

It's not entirely clear, but he definitely built it long before the invasion. He must have spent some time down there.

The latter. Or, at least, he kidnapped one woman about two years before the aliens invaded.

Spoiler Space arriving soon.

Shortly.

Yes. Coming soon.

I can assure you that it's a real conversation—we sat down at a bar and talked for a half-hour. What you see is certainly an edited version of that conversation, and I can't argue if you think our rapport is stilted. The good news is that you don't have to put up with it! Salvation is just a "command + w" away!

Yes, it happens quite regularly, and It Follows did indeed premiere at Cannes and then show up at Sundance the following January. The opposite, however, is less common.

It is intended as a monthly. Sometimes I fall behind, however. I'm working on it!

Yeah, I had a great time. Thanks!

Couldn't fit it into my schedule, alas.

I've certainly used it before, come to think of it. Repeated phrasings can be a crutch.

Can't go comment by comment right now, but just dropping in to say that I'm grateful for the lively discussions happening here. A lot to chew on and think about, and plenty of points I either missed or didn't have room to address. Thanks everyone.
