A beautiful exchange. Not only is it funny, but it captures something about adult-child relationships. Sometimes, adults say things to kids that are well-meaning but incredibly generic, and they aren't actually paying attention to the individual kids and don't really take in what the kids say.

"I got everything I was supposed to get" is possibly my favorite joke about advertising ever.

It's a great continuation of the trend of making Homer not just ordinary stupid, but surreal stupid. Like in "Bart Gets an Elephant" when he says things like "Now I'll pull my arms out with my face."
