I've always seen DS9 as "my Trek". My father and I used to watch TNG together (it's odd, but I realize now that he wasn't too much older than I am now when the second series premiered) but I didn't start watching the Next Generation until 1991 or so. I watched DS9 from the beginning until almost the end when I got

Dukat equals and probably surpasses Khan in terms of effective villainy. SPOILERS

Rather pointless but I initially read your comment as "Garth Brooks settled into his role later." Now that would have been a very unexpected way in which to take the show.

Sort of how Garak's omnisexuality or bisexuality was dropped at the, I believe, insistence of the powers that be. Andrew Robinson had originally played him as such and I would have certainly preferred his somewhat more age and personality appropriate flirtations with Bashir than I did his (SPOILER) relations with Gul

Well, I enjoyed this episode (almost a week late) but I couldn't help but be a bit turned off by Ben turning to Chris. Ben's basically had his life ruined by the regulations that Chris is enforcing (I've no notion whether or not they existed before he took over) yet doesn't simply throw Chris out of his house when he

Well, it's not pop culture but if anyone ever wants to make a Leon Trotsky biopic, and he proves he has the dramatic chops, I think we've got a winner there.

Totally got my hopes up for nothing.

I remember watching it on video after it had been out for a while (maybe late 2004, or early 2005). While I didn't dislike it, it just seemed to have been massively overhyped. It just seemed like a pretty simple weird little movie that had been blown up into some sort of cultural touchstone (the number of Vote for

Track 19.

My thoughts exactly. I think it's the best track on The King is Dead.

Space Mutiny is a top three for me, but for some reason I've always preferred Laserblast. Even though it's the last episode of the Comedy Central run I really felt like the riffing was absolutely top notch.

You don't seem to be alone in that regard. She's definitely got something going on.

I thought the show was fantastic from episode one until early on in the third season. Then it sort of leveled off, with several major plot twists that, to me at least, seemed to make little sense. Rather disapointed with the ending.

I started reading at the end of your TOS coverage. I'm usually at work when you post these and don't comment too often, but thank you for all of your hard work. I've looked forward to these reviews every Thursday and they're a real highpoint of my week. I look forward to DS9 next year. Its been a pleasure.

I like Plinkett too but I could really do without the whole serial killer subplot. Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth and it's hard to recommend the videos to others with that in there.

"Now, I'll kill a snitch."

It seems the AV Club/Deadspin crosspollination continues.

Believe me Herman, this movie is fun for no one.

I tried so hard to like that movie, yet I think you finally captured why it failed to entertain: no one enjoyed making it. Which is a shame: you could make a hell of a film out of the material available.

Like most of your list. Definitely think Community should be included in comedy and I'd put Charlie Day over Glenn Howerton. Bill Hader is a nice pick (that man is pretty much keeping SNL afloat these days). Not a fan of where Kelly MacDonald's character went this season (not really her fault, but I'd rather see Lena
