So, I'll admit that was a strong way to make me pay attention. But, no, I walked in assuming this was the Allison Brie Show and couldn't believe how well Gilpin commands show. Strong presence, emotional range, and really really smart acting choices in even small moments.

Agreed.

She was great, as was everyone, but Gilpin was the most captivating to me.

Yup. Although "representation" gets weird when discussing things like STEM and tech - if Asians seek those things out more heavily, is it bad that they're there? I understand (and agree) that a lack of other types of people in those fields is a concern, but is it bad to have a lot of Asians go into medicine or

I sort of assume all of Canada is constantly preoccupied with other things Canadian. Like, the radio just plays Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Drake, Bieber, etc. Everyone watches nothing but DeGrassi High and Canadian filmmakers, etc.

And yes, Hello Gluegun, you have a very charming and dare I say it , effervescent style characteristic of the youth of today!

No, I wasn't making any specific accusations about your millenniallism (?). I was making a separate point that I've been startled to find that young people somehow think (a) Nicholas Cage is a terrible actor (rather than a gifted actor who makes extremely crazy choices in role selection and interpretation) and (b)

It's funny. Many of my favorite writers, directors, and actors are Jewish men. Most are in their 60s or older. And most have some harrowing, troubling stories about how bad discrimination was when they were younger. And, now, as a thirtysomething man, I feel like those issues have actually been well addressed.

Did someone kill Gershwin!?

It involved John Travolta and it's not Pulp Fiction, so false. (Sad fact: millennials mistakenly see Face/Off and think Cage is the scourge on acting, not Travolta! We need a public awareness campaign to fix that.)

This is true. Fifth Element is (intentionally) very silly but extremely well done nonsense. Can't say that for any of Woo's American films.

The Sweet Hereafter isn't on? It's Canadian with a Canadian director.

It's a silly list for sure. But I don't think they're snobbish (with Face/Off, how could they be?) so much as trolling and trying to be provocative. Also, some choices on it are terrific.

Sweet Hereafter is an all timer. Top 50 at least.

Face Off serveral positions above the Sweet Hereafter. I think I'm being trolled. Dowd, are you trying to steal Armond White's gig?

Wait - what if I have a legacy AVClub account? Are you forcing me into Kinja?

Worst Orphan Black spinoff ever.

I always thought Kayleigh was a shithead name, so yeah, I agree. (I realize this might alienate Mr. Ehrmentraut, but he's dead, so he can suck it.)

Honestly, not enough of the right people are dying in fires.

Cersei is going to accidentally take down the Wall, isn't she? I feel like the only logical way to intersect the storylines of the Pyrrhic war and the real one are to have the Pyrrhic war undermine the real one overtly.
