Dear Homeland producers:
Dear Homeland producers:
Nah. I liked it, but the movie is fairly jumbled and messy compared to the novel - too abstract for my tastes. But you have me rethinking my list at least. But speaking of Le Carre, I'd put Tailor of Panama way up there.
Boo. A Clear and Present Danger might have been is the best spy movie of my lifetime.
I think I agree with this, oddly. It comes down to this: Philip Noyce was the best director the series had, by far. His two movies are just fantastic and Ford was a perfect fit.
Sorta fair. But I really hate Sean Connery.
Would you ask Tom Petty that?
I normally love Alec Baldwin, but let's say it - Harrison Ford is the only great Jack Ryan.
Kudos to the show for this Mischa arc: on one level it's super shaggy dog storytelling, but on another it built honestly to an emotionally devastating ending (maybe?). As a newish dad, I was fairly choked up by the park scene.
I'm excited, but a little apprehensive. I am really enjoying the current tone and I hope Gus doesn't hijack it.
True. I'm just saying I've had several conversations with atheists who were fully committed to evolution without actually understanding it. My point is science literacy is weak all over the place, and especially on the edges of the political spectrum.
So, did Chris Parnell quit the cast or what's going on there? Just a joke?
It's an odd comment, for sure. My most progressive friends eat foie gras and veal and DGAF. Animals only rate as a "cause" because they're part of the planet generally.
Pretty fair take. I think the interaction with religion is interesting too - I know plenty of people who are crazy fundies who simply can't accept evolution or the Big Bang. But I also know people who are fervently pro evolution, not because they understand or believe in it, but because they culturally committed to…
Yes, except one fix: "I guess the real problem is that the internet average human mind doesn't allow for much nuance."
Totally agree. This is a pretty major problem with progressive activists, in my experience. It's very weird how the "party of science" that is so (rightly) locked in on the truth of evolution and climate change is so anti R&D, with very limited information. (I'm hugely anti-anti-GMO. I'm pro GMO.)
I generally agree to that. I'm an animal rights person and I think they're very bad for animal rights.
While I'm not a PETA person, I think that's a faulty comparison. Anti-vaxxers:health advocates::9/11 truthers:advocates for government accountability.
True. Borscht-soaked rice pudding will usually only get you to the White House in 2017.
Random observation: the hit man (who killed Astrud) seemed way too fat and fought to be effective.
What have you seen her in? Have you seen Winter's Bone?
