The point is there is no profit.  That's why they set up this grift in the first place.  If there was a profit to be made then artists wouldn't need your crowd-sourcing.  There would a label there to cash in.  Or some other investor.  Crowd-sourcing is necessary because there is no legitimacy in the business part of

People are horrible though.  And people with money to throw away on this crap are even worse.  'Fans' are just a bunch of jerks who want to feel special by being on the 'in' with whatever seems cool.  It isn't about music or art or anything.  It's about people feeling good about themselves.  And that's a real dead
