I remember when they introduced the cast at the end of the previous season (I think).  I thought it was a joke… but it wasn't.  And man… being a kid who loved that show by that point especially the previous 2 seasons which were awesome… the show just was a complete clunker when the original cast left.

I think part of the appeal of at least SCTV were that even when the sketches went long or felt like duds… that was actually what TV was like at that time!  It was filled with boring space and SCTV was great at capturing just the right rhythm.  But I'm old and not who you were looking for.
