The sentence the way it's written indicates that "Double Feature" is Owen King's first work of professionally published fiction, instead of simply being his debut novel, which is actually the case.

I've been to Kuma's and I thought the food was pretty good, but not worth the three hour wait to get in. Personally I think you can get a similar experience at Edzo's, though admittedly without some of the more exotic toppings Kuma's offers, but at least you won't have to spend hours waiting in line.

I don't think she was supposed to be overweight in the novel, though I do remember some descriptive passage from the book about how her skin had "a loose quality to it."
I agree that Spacek really did a fantastic job making Carrie feel like an outcast, from the way she carried herself to the way she spoke and even her down-turned eyes and nervous facial expressions.
"…and suspend your disbelief that Chloe Moretz would ever be a total outcast just because her hair could use a combing…"
At this point we may as well rename The Simpsons (Classic) to The Simpsons (Good).
