Flair was a great heel because he was such a pompous ass and everyone wanted to see him get his comeuppance. Macho Man and Jake the Snake were kind of the original cool heels that everyone just eventually gave in and openly rooted for.
I think the "unlikable" refers to the idea that they're characters we ought not like (for reasons like, oh, being a major meth distributor), but end up liking anyway. I'd say Gus qualifies.

The new Mummy isn't really related to the Fraser Mummy movies, it's a reboot of the 1930s monster movies, on which the Fraser series is only very loosely based (as in, there's a mummy and sometimes it's named Imhotep).
