I thought this episode was terrible. Yes, it was nice to see all the friends, family and lovers who spend most of their time curiously absent from Rosewood but the whole episode was slow with even lower stakes than usual. Toby might be secretly evil, Ezra may be creepy, but Caleb has a lock on the most boring

I've pulled an Alison and have come back from beyond the grave to torment the AV Club writing staff forever. xoxo -MT

Also curious about this, and holding my breath until someone answers.

Finn even looked sufficiently, affected..

I'm pretty sure Rosewood High School rivals only Mystic Falls for worst overall attendance rates.

I did not make that connection at all. great catch. and yes, that scene was pretty great.

One of my favorite drinking game rules is "take a shot every time an oblivious Aria interrupts serious life or death musings with an inane comment about her love life." there are episodes when that alone will get you drunk.

I'd love Tyler to make an appearance on PLL. he'd show the Liars (and Tibbit) what's what. alas, RIP Tyler.

This whole review is incredibly enjoyable to read, so thanks.

amber was the best. I hope she finds success somewhere.

I'm so so bitter about that fake out. I'm secretly hoping the fake out is a fake out, we just don't know it yet.

somewhere there's this great interview with Troian where she just spends the whole thing bashing Aria and talking about how Aria is the worst friend ever, basically for the reason you just stated. it's amazing, and if you don't already love Troian it will make you a huge fan,

the only time I like Aria is when she's working with Spencer and we get some Team Sparia. The rest of the time? giant meh.

5? well, you've never seen the show.

All of them were rocking outfits mostly never before seen at a funeral home. except maybe Spencer, because she's Spencer.

SERIOUSLY. what is with these doctors, teachers, and policemen that they just can't get enough of the 16/17 year olds? this especially weirds me out with Wren, although I agree he is crazy hot. but you are accomplished! you can drink scotch in public! why jump around from underaged lady to underaged lady?

oh man, I loved Mona's 12 second information dump. it was so absurd. overall, a somewhat meh episode but I think they set up a lot for the season. I definitely agree that having Mona as a protagonist is a wise choice to keep things from stagnating.

whether or not the show goes there, that's how it is ending in my mind.

at this point I enjoy PLL way more than TVD. the soapy-ness on PLL doesn't take itself too serious. and while the violence on TVD is much more effective, PLL does pull off the occasional scary/unsettling moment. which it somewhat undercut by the fact that seriously, all these girls are just so dumb. so so dumb.

I'm ridiculously excited by the possibility of PLL coverage. I started watching it on netflix while I was sick and was surprised that by the end of season 1, I was genuinely enjoying it. the plot moves quickly, the clothes are ridiculous, and the parenting is horrendous. what else could you want in a tv show in the
