I bet she goes for a nautical theme.

Primus
I have always loved Primus' "Miscellaneous Debris" EP, which is a small collection of cool cover songs. Perhaps not "essential", but is definitely a great album. Either way, any band that does a cover of The Residents' "Sinister Exaggerator" deserves a mention.

This is godawful
I prefer the Residents' version:

Nevermind, I'm going crazy. Carry on.

Holy Fuck
I swear I only wrote that once. What the hell?

I get it.
Keep your "chin-up".

I agree with DreadGuacamole - Addicted is great. It has a more energetic and colourful tone than Ki, and Anneke's vocals really add to the music.

Let me rephrase that: I hope to see a review of this in May. Of course you can review whatever the hell you want.

Heavy Devvy
Still wishing you had mentioned the two recent Devin Townsend albums, although it's a little late now.

John Zorn's heavier stuff would fit in this category.

I used to love Mortification back in the day. Their early work was especially cool, if you can get past the Jesus stuff. They had some pretty awful albums too though.

Monty Python
Also, Ween, Primus, and Calvin & Hobbes.

Gene is the fucking man. I can't wait to hear that!

Hm. Well he shaved the Skullet off - maybe that's why there has been no coverage of his two excellent new albums.

Devin Townsend
I noticed no mention of either of the two new albums by the Devin Townsend Project. Granted, it's not super heavy stuff and it might be a bit broad to count as "metal", but it's certainly heavier than the average radio rock shit. If not here, then where does it belong?

Especially strange that I did that, considering the title of my post was "San Francisco"

Hahaha. That was a stupid typo. I meant San Francisco - Considerably further than Seattle.

San Francisco
A couple of friends and I drove from Vancouver down to Seattle (about 14 hours) to see Primus play one of their legendary New Year's Eve Freakout shows at the Warfield. It was sweet. It was Rhinoplasty / Brown Album era and Les Claypool was sporting an afro perm. At midnight, Bob Cock was carried out on

He's hard to sit through, for sure. But when someone like Christopher Hitchens gets up and verbally eviscerates him it makes it all worth while.

Boteach
I've seen this guy in various debates about god and religion. He always comes across as a douche. Now I know he's an opportunistic douche.
