Anthony Kiedis is truly a sexist with a sad song.

Is the Target in Boston better than the one in Hollywood?
I would go to see them play Abracadabralifornia then leave afterwards.
Chris Brown deserves all the static thrown at him for his treatment of women. Bear in mind though, that Brown was raped when he was 8 years old. I can certainly see how it shaped his views on the opposite sex.
Of course, Freaky Styley has a song on it called "Catholic School Girls Rule". And therein is one of the problems with the Chilis, namely the mysogynistic lyrics of Anthony Kiedis and the way he sings them.
This dude really needs help. And no, not to weigh 311 pounds
And that is the result of the ordeal that she suffered at age 12.

Never mind that record, we want the full scoop on the classic the band put out as their 4th record.
I forward a Permanent Records feature on Tidal, by Fiona Apple. She wrote most of that record when she was between 15 and 18 years old, and for someone to write a record that powerful and insightful was astonishing. Give most artists an entire career and they couldn't write a record that brilliant. Its just a shame…
Secret Samadhi was pretty stodgy. Live had started to take the REM influences musically out of their sound, and the band took themselves so seriously that they became ridiculous. Most of the REM on Steroids musical attack that was evident on Throwing Copper was gone, and the lyrics were awful. "This puke stinks like…
Agreed. Because she looked like a Gap model and came across as so serious, many people just didn't take Fiona Apple seriously and thought she was a spoilt brat thanks to the "This World is Bullshit!" line (which was taken out of context). But Tidal is excellent, and has so much power.
"Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morrisette, Fiona Apple, and Jewel"
"Well, you ain't Fiona Apple, and if you ain't Fiona Apple, I don't give a rats ass!"
"Oasis like jangle?"
Its got the clicking bass, juvenile lyrics, detuned guitars and Jonathan Davis scatting over the bridge, so its pretty Korny.
Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament were from MLB. Bruce Fairweather was the lead guitarist in MLB, Mike McCready was just a dude that worshipped Stevie Ray Vaughan when he got together with the 2 dudes from Soundgarden and the 2 from MLB when the record was written.
And I suppose the proceeds go to charity. Which is another reason.
It is when you recall the story of the guy that wrote the song. As for Third/Sister Lovers, then that fits the bill.
Its about a dude that is taking advantage of a meth addict. That's the impression I get from the lyrics above, and elsewhere in the song.
The Gin Blossoms were really good. Non of the bands mentioned could write anything as gut wrenching and gripping as Found Out About You. And they put out several pretty respectable records which still hold up.
