In future episodes, Fusco will be wearing a stocking cap, glasses, and a red & white striped shirt.

Thanks for the link, and yes, that was cut. That (pre-recorded) sketch was more cute than funny, so I agree that it was better off being cut, though I also wouldn't have missed the Rain Man sketch.
Well, it's not like I know the guy, but yeah, from what I've read, Lorne doesn't want them to memorize. This may be, in part, because sketches can be rewritten shortly before they go to air, which would make memorization difficult.
"Here's the new script — you're on in five!"
"Five minutes?"
"No, seconds. Three, two .…
Yep, I loved that whole thing. Pitch-perfect imitation of Wes Anderson's style, including the staginess, focus on objects, and tracking shots through doorways, which made the absurdity of a gentle/quirky home invasion horror movie really shine. The impressions were good too.
"We took too long."
Hmm, actually, I noticed Norton looking at cue cards repeatedly, but he didn't straight-up stare at them the whole time — it's like he'd look, and then get back to the acting. I'm guessing he's not used to doing that, which may have made him feel uncomfortable, but he was gamely complying with Lorne's requirement…
Though I often end up hesitantly enjoying his shows and appreciating his nerdthusiasm, Chris Hardwick yells entirely too much. He's like the Billy Mays of hosts.
He'd have better luck taking her to a Churrascaria.
The difference being that Root isn't an unwilling participant. Root is enthusiastically following the Machine's instructions — well, she's less enthusiastic about not killing people, but she's complied even in those cases.
Reese and Carter meeting up at the corner while tracking their perps was a very 'you got chocolate in my peanut butter' kind of moment — pretty funny. Initially I was annoyed by the whole Reese versus HR dude fight scene, particularly since I was expecting him to take Reese's gun while they fought, but then it turned…
That's one of the great things about this show: deep bench. They have plenty of cool recurring characters, and there are several interesting one-episode characters they could bring back as well, including Gen (as in next-gen — she did SAY she wanted to be a spy).
That's really a thing? Ew!
More reasons to be glad I abandoned facebook, I guess.
During Carter's confrontation with her shifty partner in the bar, I straight-up said "I love you, Carter!" — my husband concurred with a "Hell yeah." And that was BEFORE she even got to the kicker where she said "You work for me." Perfect.
That's exactly what I thought when that scene ended — "Oh snap, this squirt just became Carter's Fusco!" Which of course made me miss Fusco.
I can already see the promo poster for it — Clyde on Bear's head, foreleg raised, cityscape in the background. First ep will involve Bear saving people from a burning building and Clyde rescuing a sentient paraplegic lab rat from a rogue leaf of lettuce.
"I guess y'all heard, I'm sexy now!"
Yeah, it's pretty much the surrealism of what they're saying plus the sort of dead-eyed delivery that makes the sketch. The characters have no self-awareness, and the sketch plays out like it's some late-night infomercial, except it's not clear (within the sketch) that it's ever going to be aired. To call it weird…
The focus was kind of odd, but they had to address it. "Hey look guys, 6 total noobs! Get a load of them!" And as annoying as the opening dance sketch/monologue was, I did enjoy Tina telling them to feel the shame and "let your soul leave your body."
@avclub-c7684d43035cba8fe351d14a41209dc5:disqus Nasim might have been great on Update, and at least it would mean she was in SOMEthing, but I'd kind of rather she be in sketches. Then again, they could go back to the 2-person Update formula and have Nasim join Cecily after Seth Myers is gone.
"You will not do better than this man. He is strong like ox, and you are soft and weak and dress like baby."
If by "everyone" you mean the Mexican Police, well, those cops may be the ones putting the bodies there, considering what's happening with Eva. Or at least among the people body-dropping in that field. I also got the impression that it was just one of many body-dump sites, and that even if the cops weren't using…
