Yeah, if there's one thing that's distinctly, consistently better about this season, it's the characterization of Mako. His reaction to the amnesia stuff is more sympathetic here than some of his actions in the past not just because the facial animation and David Faustino's voice acting are so great in the moment, but

Aside from all the obvious staples, we ended up watching Adaptation. in my AP English class for no particular reason, so that was pretty cool.

Affleck was the bomb in Voyage of the Mimi, yo.

The red heifer is a real thing though…

Having seen the movie at NYFF, I think anyone calling it a "celebration" of fascism or war is totally off-base, but to say that it's a "condemnation" or has a "strong pacifist message" is being overly generous. The film certainly acknowledges and laments that Jiro's creations are corrupted to serve destructive ends,

You should see every episode of that.

Plus unlike Quidditch the rules actually make sense.

Those kinds of scenes also require good writing, and we haven't been getting that either. It's hard to get much of a sense of character or emotion out of a dialogue scene when all humor or pathos or flavor have been jettisoned in favor of flat plot explanation. I feel like at this point Varrick is the only character

Everyone knows the flood got rid of the crazy angel monsters. What this movie presupposes is…maybe it didn't?

My favorite Marzipan's Answering Machine message is the one where Homestar angrily breaks up with her after mishearing "go to Richway and pick up some Hefty bags" as "go away and pick up sticks," followed immediately by his retraction "after a second listening under the tutelage of Pom-Pom's keen ears."

Or maybe high finance?

A wave o' babies

I've seen barely any of the movies I was really anticipating this year so far, and this may well look completely different a week from now (since I'm planning to see Gravity, Escape From Tomorrow, In a World…, Mud, and The Kings of Summer asap), but sure, why not! At least here my list will be on the first page of the

"The first season never happened. It will shock you how much it never happened."

Man, I really hope they use this Bolin-as-movie-star subplot to get some digs in at Shyamalan's expense.

Yeah, it's cool to see the show addressing the fact that the whole concept of the Avatar doesn't really work in a modern society like Republic City, and a lot of people treat her role as symbolic at best.

Well, if nothing else the show accomplished the impossible and made me like Mako. It finally looks like the show is going to call Korra out on her shit and make her learn some tough lessons. And Varrick's sleazy opportunism puts an interesting wrinkle in the main conflict and keeps it from being too one-sided.
