I was just thinking about that as I read the review. Yeah, it would be interesting to delve a little more into these men's lives, and see how they progressed throughout the years.

Ahhhhh, yes, excellent point. Have an independent life of her own?! Whoda thunk?

Yeah, I'd have to disagree with Zack's comment about her shrieking coming off as farce. I see it as genuine anger and frustration…but it's targeted at the wrong version of herself, for the reasons you note.

Seriously. I see people doing all this stuff to try to "preserve their youth", and coming up with lame sayings like, "40 is the new 20!" because they're afraid of being acknowledged as being in their forties* and want to try and look and act as "hip" and "young" as the twentysomethings out there (and please, please,

Indeed, I can see where one could go misogynistic with that premise, especially in regards to the woman's failures as a partner being the problem. But the idea of "looking to men to get what she thought she wanted" actually could be an interesting topic to explore further in depth for a story targeted at women. I know

I wholeheartedly agree. I think it'd be better if everyone got the hell away from the Scientology stuff, but…yeah.

How did I not make that connection before that that was that Diana Hyland? Wow. Guess it'd been so long since I'd heard that story that I blanked on that fact.

Haha, exactly. Even better when they say they think it might have a common word in its title ("hope", "love", "diet", etc.). Oh, thanks, that really narrows it down!

Oh, wow, she voiced Casper? Did not know that. Cool.

Mmhm. The preacher scolds pretty much every last civilian in the town for their attitudes-gives a big ol' speech at the hanging gallows and everything. And there's a jerk officer who's all giddy about putting this guy to death, and the wife of some other guy is totally blasé about the whole thing, and trying to figure

I've thought a time or two about writing fiction stories centered around a bookstore and the unusual customers one gets in them! That experience would certainly make for a good one!

Haha, pretty much.

Awwwwww. Well, hey, glad you guys had a good conversation in and of itself! And I admire your boldness.

I'm quite curious about his thoughts on that episode, too. It is absolutely preachy as all get out, no question…but at the same time, I still like it anyway. So I look forward to that discussion.

Amen to that. Capped off by dealing with a weird (and by "weird" I mean, "all sorts of WTF?/increasingly creeping me the hell out with his bizarre ramblings" sort of "weird") customer at work this morning. Thanks to him it threw off my day a little (8 and a half hour shift, so long day) and customers in general just

That's incredibly dark.

You and me both. These reviews/discussions are a good way to end the week.

I seem to recall only ever seeing "Black Leather Jackets" once, maybe twice at best, and it's been a long time since that happened. So I have barely any memory of it.

Not a drink, but that makes me think of a story my dad told me once about an incident that happened when he was a kid. He'd gotten some scalding hot water spilled on him, and his mom was going to use some lotion to help soothe the burns.

Somebody mentioned 'Ferngully' earlier and that was another punch to the gut. How did that not make my list?
