The public can still find ways to ignore him when he goes off on his relationship, though.

Yeah, that's kinda how I read the lyrics, too-he already knows this girl/is dating her and this is a fun little game for them, wherein they do something of the equivalent of a "pretending to pick each other up" scenario every so often, and he encourages her to let her wild side out in the process.
"Johnny Get Angry" is a really weird, unsettling song.
I saw that when I was looking up the song on Wikipedia (double checking my info was correct), yeah. Totally did not expect to come across that random tidbit of information. Weird.
I've only ever heard that song a couple times here and there, but yeah, from what I remember about it…"rough stuff" is right.
Aw. I understand that feeling, and I'm sorry you felt that way. I'm glad that you got your dance at the end of the night, though!
Your comment was good, too! You summed it up much more succinctly than I did. Plus, it's nice to know others read it the same way I did.
I'd always wondered where that meme came from…
This post entertained me greatly.
Couple songs I've heard on a local AM station we get in sometimes that came to mind…Kenny Rogers' "Lucille" is a strange, strange song. No abuse involved, but it's definitely got a fucked up relationship situation happening throughout. If I'm sitting with someone I just met in a bar, and their significant other comes…
Exactly.
Oof.
As am I. Lots of good music from that era.
I remember reading that story about the origin behind this song in that "1,000 Songs You Must Hear Before You Die" book and ever since then, I've always found this song quite bittersweet as a result.
Pretty sure that's not what the issue is here.
The "hometown/country" thing is a very valid point worth considering. Yeah, it's not x country's fault that they'll get certain media before other people do, but even so, for those who are good and wait months before it comes out on their end of the pond, or in their theater, or on a movie channel, or whatever, I…
Er…may I suggest that the aggressive tone of attitudes like this only fuels the anti-spoiler crowd even more?
Agreed. I'd personally be very generous and say anything ten years old or older is fair game. But I can see some people arguing for even shorter time frames than that (a year, five years, etc.), too. Either way, it's a discussion that should be had by people at some point.
I've been like that with some horror movies I've seen. I knew all about the infamous shower scene in 'Psycho', for instance, well before I saw the movie in full for the first time.
I've gone to the SpoilerTV website on occasion, and saw people on there bitching about spoilers.
