I always loved it when he'd start going on about some weird holiday, or talk about the history of a country during its independence day, or spend time talking about notable philosophers. I actually learned stuff watching his show.

All his opening song and dance numbers with the puppets. All of them. I can never hear "Oops I Did It Again" the same way again thanks to him.

And the celebrity guests would try to ride him around the studio.

I am really disappointed that we aren't going to get any opportunities for them to interact with each other through their shows somehow. I was looking forward to that possibility.

It really is rather frustrating that people don't do more to stop those who help enable this sort of crap. As has been shown many, many times in many, many stories, Hollywood really is a fucked up, predatory place for young actors and actresses, and it's way too easy for people to be led down dangerous paths out

Well said with this.

That was hilarious.

It's not technically a monologue, but I also really loved the opening he did after the Aurora shootings, too. Somber, very respectful, and emotional.

Yeah, I normally only tuned in to other late night shows if they had someone I liked on as a guest. But his was one I watched start to finish, no matter who the guest was, and he had some great running jokes within one episode or across episodes.

Secretariat could open the show (or sign off, whichever) staring at everyone and swaying while that creepy piano music played in the background.

Always fun when he would just lose it. There was another clip during one of his e-mail segments that was like that…I'll have to go search for it.

I would definitely watch that.

What the hell was the deal with that McCain joke? Sheesh.

I really hope he can sneak that back in at some point.

I absolutely loved that whole segment. I really enjoyed the way he discussed some issues that weren't getting much media attention (the India election being another great example), and I hope that continues to be a big part of his show. Since Jon and Stephen generally tend to focus on U.S.-oriented stories and media

That does sound like a good setup! I wouldn't mind a life like that. Good for your mom.

That's a good point, too. I wouldn't mind the saying so much if it were viewed in that context.

Good point. Yeah, I don't have kids, but if my job's not paying me very much and my town's not offering a hell of a lot to actually DO, then…that kinda takes the fun out of the single life a bit….

Yeah, I totally get the whole thing with wanting grandkids and carrying on the family name. An appealing aspect of having children for me would be the opportunity to teach them things and seeing them positively contribute to the future in various ways. And I can see the frustration on both sides if the parents want

Maybe, because it's a smaller town, people feel like there's not much left for anyone to do there BUT have kids?
