Snape - thanks for the tip off.  Had no idea Baroness (one of my fave metal groups right now) were touring.  Gotta love Loud.  I already strong-armed my buddies into getting tix to Mastodon/Opeth/Ghost with me, so I may have to go to this one solo (I never went to a concert by myself before - and no, I'm not shooting

I liked their song ( ) a lot, but I sampled the rest and the album struck me as kinda atonal and very screamy.  Am I wrong?

Just read they're touring North America this summer with Opeth and Ghost.  Cannot freaking wait!  Now if only Baroness came out with their new one….

Yeah - I saw this show in NY and NO ONE wanted to hear SD or SY.  I remember Thurston dedicated Kool Thing to "motherfucking Ice Cube!"  You can imagine the crowd's response.

Don't forget his live late 90s album, Year of the Horse.

As for the mid 80s: I will defend Trans to the death.

Yeah I was surprised to see Black Keys all over the 2011 lists.  What did they have, 2 days to digest it and declare it the 7th best album of the year (or whatever).  Leave something in the tank for '12!

And of course - Liturgy (I have no beef with any band mentioned, honestly).

I know Cookie.  "Look at us!  We're outrageous!  WE SWITCHED THE P AND THE J!!"

I put Tuneyards in the Yeasayer/Dirty Projectors/Animal Collective camp.  Stuff that makes me feel like a chowderhead cause I just…don't…get it.  I have to immediately put on something like the Ramones or Jeff The Brotherhood afterwards.

We participate in the shit, now that's a hit!

Lobsters, I just want to a put in a plug for Combat Rock and the first Clash album (US version) as well.

Was "See You In The Boneyard" on that album?  A Minute To Pray, A Second To Die.  So unbelievable.  I have to dig that out.

I'm no Madchester expert, but I bought "Pills N Thrills N Bellyaches" on a whim used for $4 a few years back and really dug it a lot.

I'm partial to Everything Went Black.  It's like an alternate history of Black Flag with all Keith Morris vocals.

I didn't like that Everything Sucks was basically All with Milo.  They could've brought back Navetta and Lombardo but didn't (except on one song).

The production on I Don't Want Grow Up always drove me nuts.  ("Silly Girl" rules though).

Yes, absolutely hell yes.  The musicianship on that album still blows me away.

Who knew?  Wow.

Always thought "Schizophrenia" was the quintessential Sonic Youth song.
