I'm really enjoying it!

It still blows my mind that we live in a world where there exists a Sondheim score sung by Madonna. But then, on the other hand, I'm one of those who believe she was quite effective in Evita.

JURASSIC WORLD
Saw this, apparently, with the rest of the world this weekend. Kind of exciting to see it shatter already high box office expectations. I have to say it's the best of all the sequels and I really got a kick out of the callbacks to the original - especially the ruins of the original park. There were

YES YES YES YES KELLI O'HARA. Finally. And so well deserved. She commanded the entire theatre with so much quiet grace and confidence when I saw the show in April.

Perpetually late to the party…

ugh meant to post earlier and completely forgot.

Can we just take a brief moment to talk about the fact that a simple Van Williams search is one of the more profitable Google image searches one can make.

Plinko and Punch-a-Bunch for the photo finish win.

If this brilliant gem of a show - with its breathtaking cinematography, thoughtful and supremely naturalistic performances, insightful writing that cuts like a hot knife and stunning direction - can't get a pickup for at least one more season amidst all the other garbage that continues to get inexplicably renewed,

The King and I is all I can think about half the time these days. I hope this is what finally nets O'Hara that Tony.

Like that horrendous miniseries The 60s.

maybe just for Mad Men's first season. I feel like, once they got past that first season, that was much less of an issue - especially in terms of how Matthew Weiner chooses to deal with the current events of the period. Especially with the tumultuous late 60s, I think he's done a fine job of walking a tightrope of

I've fallen into my habit of having multiple books going at once. Currently, its:

Empire is a lot of fun. Completely over the top, whiplashing from one emotion and scenario to the next, but boy is it a lot of fun. Cookie is one of the most singular and instantly memorable characters in recent history.

Have you settled on which shows to see? Some friends of mine saw On The Town a couple weeks ago and RAVED about it. I am dying to see Kelli O'Hara in The King and I.

One of the - if not the best - dramas on television right now (at least until Mad Men returns April 5). Russell and Rhys give such dedicated, fleshed-out, worn-in performances and the supporting cast is strong.

I adore Atonement for so many reasons. I feel like it would have had a better shot at winning Oscars in a different year.

I should probably give the novel another chance. When I read it the first time, just about every character came across as unlikable to me, and Fanny in particular I had a difficult time wrapping my head around.

Exactly. Even the insufferable Fanny Price.

It may sound a bit blasphemous, but I think that's what I love about her in period pieces. I know it's not accurate for the behavior of the period, but I like that portion of modern energy she injects into the period films she does.
